The Paragon IU Rapid Chess Team Championship was established with a strong focus on high school students, providing them with a meaningful opportunity to engage in competitive chess within a structured and supportive academic environment.
Organized by Paragon International University in cooperation with Phnom Penh Checkmate with support from Cambodia Chess Federation, the championship aims to encourage young minds to develop critical thinking, discipline, and teamwork through the game of chess. While the event primarily serves high school students, university teams are also welcome to participate, enriching the competitive experience and fostering mentorship and exchange between age groups.
As a team-based rapid chess competition, the tournament emphasizes collaboration, strategy, and sportsmanship. By bringing together students from public and private institutions, in mixed-gender teams, the championship promotes inclusivity and respect both on and off the board.
Hosted at the Paragon IU Main Campus, the competition is designed as an annual event with the goal of growing participation and impact each year. Through this initiative, Paragon International University and its partners seek to inspire high school students to challenge themselves, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills - using chess as a powerful educational tool.
