Hi, I am Mrs. Carlson! I have been teaching for a long time, and have taught all kinds of music, art, photography and graphic design to students ages Kindergarten through college. I have taught in Minnesota, Washington and Arizona. In Arizona I taught 10 years in the Wickenburg school district at Festival Foothills and Wickenburg High School. I taught art and photography at WHS for 5 years. This is my 3rd year at PHHS. I am teaching Graphic Design I, II and III, and Ceramics I and II. And I am coaching JV Girls Volleyball.
I am married to my amazing husband, and we have four awesome kids, 16, 18, 22 and 24, a dog, and 2 cats. We have lived in AZ for 16 years, and we love it! We are outside every chance we get! I love hiking, biking, 4 wheeling, traveling, photography and painting, not necessarily in that order!
Ceramics is artwork and utilitarian items made of clay. You will create things that are beautiful and things that are useful. You will learn techniques that can be used again and again with endless creative options. You will also learn the science behind it all because understanding is key to success!
Graphic Design is one of the CTE courses offered at PHHS. My dad said he was excited to hear I would be teaching that class again, as “it is the future of art and design” and he is right! In Graphic Design you will learn how to use digital tools to create designs for commercial and artistic purposes. Posters, websites, video graphics, UI/UX, limited only by your imagination!
