The Para Bellum Solutions team got together for our quarterly meeting on Friday evening, hearing about our progress and wins so far this year, and welcoming new team members. While our team members primarily work at client sites, we know it's important to get together on a regular basis to hear about how we're going, what's on the horizon and our future strategy. And of course, catching up with colleagues from around Australia and an element of fun.

Para Bellum Solutions is pleased to announce that we have been formally inducted as a member of the Supportive Employer Program (SEP) with ADF Reserves and Employer Support (ADFRES), which provides a link between Defence, reservists, employers, educational institutions, and the community.
As a veteran-owned business since our origins in 2017, we’re proud that more than two thirds of our team are veterans, with many of them continuing to serve as reservists. We are privileged to offer them Defence Reserve Leave, enabling them to fulfil their reservist duties without losing annual leave.
Senior Consultant Mark Bosse joined Para Bellum after 15 years in Defence. “The provision of paid Defence Reserve Leave to employees has helped to reduce the pressure to attend extended Army Reserve service without the need to use annual leave. I am very appreciative of the ongoing support Para Bellum Solutions has provided to me as an Army Reservist,” he said.

Para Bellum Solutions is proud to join the new South Australian Veteran Employer Network established by Veterans SA and defence industry partners. As a veteran-owned business, Para Bellum understands and appreciates the knowledge and experience veterans bring to the table, delivering success for our clients. Around two thirds of our team are veterans, with many still serving as reservists.

The Para Bellum Solutions team enjoyed a great night at the annual Defence Teaming Centre Awards last Thursday night held at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Another remarkable display of collaboration, skills initiatives, and innovation in the Australian Defence Industry. Congratulations to all of this year's winners!
It was a special highlight to hear from keynote speaker Dr. Richard Harris SC OAM, who in 2018, joined an international team to rescue 12 boys and their soccer coach from the flooded Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai, Thailand. A fitting story about teamwork, resilience, and collaboration.

Jake Kearsley CSM and Lewis Hill attended the 2023 National ADF Reserves and Employer Support Awards, held at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney on Tuesday evening.
We didn't take out the National Award this year, but we're still proud as punch for winning the 2023 Private Sector - Medium Business Award for South Australia earlier, and then subsequently entering into the National Awards.

New Colorimetric Nuclear Detection product launch at Indo Pacific 2023
Para Bellum Solutions is proud to showcase innovation in radiological detection on behalf of Codeac Solutions at the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition in Sydney in November.
Codeac Solutions specialise in cutting-edge products for rapid detection and management of nuclear threats. Their technology delivers definitive colorimetric results in under 60 seconds upon contact with Uranium, Plutonium, Cobalt, Americium or Primary Transition Metals with specificity and high sensitivity.
Codeac products are simple and easy to use, providing reliable Colorimetric Nuclear Detection through single-use ampoules, wet wipes and water tests.
No specialised training, maintenance or power supply is required, so there are no detectable electromagnetic signature/patterns, with a fully portable, pocket-sized field kit that blends with camouflage and has no metal components.

Growing skills for South Australia through ILF Scholarship
Jake Kearsley CSM, Managing Director at Para Bellum Solutions, has been accepted into the 2023 Industry Leaders Fund (ILF) Scholars' program.
Along with 12 other business leaders from around South Australia, Jake will study world-class programs at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School, Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, the University of South Australia, and the University of Adelaide.
The Scholars will learn new skills and insights to grow their businesses and create more jobs in our State, where they are leading the way in manufacturing, food, wine, tourism, technology, sustainability, and defence and space.
Mr Kearsley said, “I’m very excited to be able to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for professional development through the ILF Scholarship. What I learn through the program will directly support our proposed growth, which is a tremendous advantage for our business.”
Since the ILF was established as a private-sector executive education grant provider, it has awarded 274 grants totalling $3.4 million and has contributed to the creation of more than 5,000 jobs within and outside South Australia.

Winning ways for reservists at Para Bellum
Para Bellum Solutions has been recognised in the Employer Support Awards hosted by the ADF Reserves and Employer Support organisation. Managing Director Jake Keasley CSM said he was honoured to accept the Private Sector - Medium Business Award on behalf of Para Bellum Solutions, having been nominated by six reservists.
“Para Bellum has been a veteran-owned business since its inception in 2017, and I’m proud to say that 85% of our management team are veterans and 65% of our whole team are current reservists,” he said.
“The depth and breadth of their skills are a tremendous advantage that all employers can benefit from, and as our reservists continue to serve their country, Para Bellum offers them Defence Reservist Leave in addition to other types of leave.”

After commencing business in January 2018, we've grown to nearly 40 staff with 2021/2022 being a milestone year of growth. We sincerely value our relationships and thank our clients, staff and supporters who have contributed to our success.
