Grace Velazquez

Mezzo-Soprano

About Me

First-generation daughter of two Argentinan immigrants. Grace is currently a senior at Perth Amboy Highschool and a member of several clubs ranging from the Show Choir to the National Honor Society.

She has been performing in musicals for the past eight years and has been working on her singing for four years with Perth Amboy High School choral director, Jeffrey Pando. Her musical career began in 2015 with the help of Perth Amboy Community Theater as she played roles like Lavender in Matilda and Penny Pingleton in Hairspray. Although her elementary and middle school did not provide musical productions until her eighth-grade year,  her mom would put her in dance classes as in ballet, but mainly hip hop. From the dance videos recorded through her mom's phone to the singing videos on her mom's Facebook, she has always been a performer.

Currently, Grace is the Tri-M Music Honor Society President, Theater Club President, Advanced Choir Soprano Section Leader,  Show Choir Soprano Section Leader, National Honor Society Public Relations Officer, Mayor's Youth Advisory Council Member, and one of the Perth Amboy's Green Team Environmental Justice Ambassadors.
