Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to the online learning space of Te Puawai, our Year 5 class at Paparore School. This space offers a window into the rich learning experiences of our 27 curious and capable tamariki as they grow, challenge themselves and flourish together throughout 2026.
In Te Puawai, learning is intentional, inclusive and grounded in relationships. We focus on developing confident, independent learners who take ownership of their learning, demonstrate leadership in everyday moments and support one another through strong whanaungatanga. Our programme values the education of the whole child, weaving together academic learning, wellbeing, creativity, physical activity and connection to our local environment.
Guided by our school values of Hiranga (Excellence), Ngākau (Integrity), Rereketanga (Diversity), Porihanga (Community and Partnership) and Kaitiakitanga (Caring for the Environment), students are encouraged to think deeply, take risks and embrace challenges with a growth mindset. Through localised learning contexts, collaborative opportunities and purposeful experiences, Te Puawai tamariki are supported to grow as learners and as people.
We look forward to sharing our learning journey with you as Te Puawai continues to learn, lead and thrive together in 2026.
Whaea Brooke is our wonderful kaiāwhina in Te Puawai. She completed all of her schooling in Kaitaia and has lived locally ever since, raising her own whānau. Whaea Brooke has two tamariki, Lexi and Noah, who attend Paparore School.
She joined our kura in Term 3, 2025, working in the junior school, and is excited to now be supporting our Year 5 class across all areas of learning. Outside of school, Whaea Brooke enjoys art, going to the gym, tattooing, animals and spending time with her family. We are very lucky to have her as part of our classroom whānau.
