term 3, week 1

This week our focus is on deciding on topics for our PERSUASIVE speeches and starting our plans!

Monday we will be identifying the purpose and audience for our persuasive speeches along with some common language features used in speeches.

Tuesday we will learn how to research and take notes. Even topics we know well can be researched further to ensure the information or facts we include are up to date, relevant and support our opinion and arguments!

Wednesday and Thursday we will start our planning for our speeches...

term 3, week 2

This week we move into writing an introduction, paragraphs and a conclusion. Basically, our whole speech! Some students may be ready to start revising and editing this week, others may need more time to work on drafting their speeches.

lesson 7: revise and edit my speech

term 3, week 3

Our speeches should be written and now we start our revising and editing process before putting our speeches onto cue cards ready for delivery. We finish the week with a lesson on speech delivery and presentation before we begin our speeches in class next Monday!

term 3, week 4

We will present our speeches in class on Monday and Tuesday.

Three Year 5 students and three Year 4 students (from Te Puawai and Te Manga) will be selected to present their speeches on Wednesday to the Senior Syndicate - Te Kauru, Te Puawai and Te Manga.

Senior Syndicate speech finals will be held on Wednesday 6th August 2025 11-12noon.
