Welcome to Te Kura o Paparore Kapa Haka Site.
Welcome to the Paparore School Kapa Haka Page
Tēnā koutou katoa, and welcome to our Kapa Haka site, a hub for celebrating the mana, wairua, and cultural pride of Paparore School.
Our Kapa Haka group is led with aroha and expertise by our kaiako, Matua Hori Tatana me Whaea Rowena, who dedicate their time and knowledge to guiding our ākonga in learning waiata, haka, and tikanga Māori. Every week, our Kapa Haka group gathers for sessions filled with practice, connection, and passion. These sessions are an integral part of our kura, fostering a sense of kotahitanga and cultural identity among our students.
This year has been another remarkable year for our Kapa Haka group. We performed with pride during Matariki 2025, celebrating the Māori New Year with our wider community. As a school, we have shared our Kapa Haka learning with parents, friends, and special visitors from around the motu.
In 2024, a big highlight was performing at the special celebration of our Tumuaki, John Windleborn, who marked an incredible 30 years as the principal of Paparore School. The energy and joy in these performances truly showcased the strength and spirit of our Kapa Haka roopu.
As we approach the end of the year, we look forward to new learning and to our performance for 2025 at the upcoming Prizegiving ceremony. This will be a chance to reflect on the year’s achievements and share our kapa haka journey with whānau and the wider school community.
We thank our kaiako, kaiāwhina, tumuaki, and whānau for their support, guidance, and encouragement throughout this journey. Kei te tino harikoa mātou ki te whai wāhi ki te whakapakari i te reo me ngā tikanga Māori ki te kura o Paparore. ( We are very excited to be part of strengthening the Māori language and culture at Paparore School.
