Term 4 - Topic: Identity
Term 3's topic is Past, Present and Future. The main curriculum areas will be Social Sciences and Technology. The school is hosting a Wearable Arts event at the end of Term 3 and the students will be thinking, planning, designing and executing a wearable art to show at the event.
For social sciences, we will be exploring the rights and responsibilities of any culture to ensure everyone has the same opportunities in Education. We will be looking at the story of Louise Braille and discover how blind people are included in schools to enable them to read.
Term 2's theme is Balance. Room 11 will be exploring the Māori world view about environment - the balance we can find on our sandy beaches, rocky beaches and mudflats. The exploration will take us through science, reading and writing arguments, social science and visual art.
Term 1's theme is Communication. Room 11 have been learning New Zealand Sign Language - greeting the teacher with good morning or good afternoon teacher in NZ Sign and have learnt the alphabet so they can spell their names to introduce themselves.
