COVID-19 Poikkeukset
Haluamme minimoida koronaviruksen aiheuttaman riskin ja henkilömäärä on rajattu. Tiloihin pääsee vain kurssille ilmoittautuneet, sekä soittajat, maestro on paikalla henkilökohtaisesti. Helsingissä emme voi ottaa passiiviopiskelijoita tilanpuutteen takia, pyydämme myös kaikkia vierailijoita pysymään tilan ulkopuolella. Kahvi- ja teetarjoilu järjestetään, mutta ruokailua ei toistaiseksi. Omat eväät ovat tervetulleita.

Ulkomailta saapuvien osalta noudatamme paikallisen terveysviranomaisen sen hetkistä ohjeistusta omaehtoisesta karanteenista (THL).
COVID-19 aiheuttamat ongelmat kurssilaiselle peruutusaikojen jälkeen (sairastuminen, karanteeni ja peruuntuneet lennot) otetaan huomioon hyvityksenä, siten, että osallistumismaksu siirtyy valinnaiselle kurssille myöhemmin. Jos kurssi peruutetaan järjestäjän toimesta, kurssimaksu palautetaan.
COVID-19 Exceptions
We are keen to minimise the risk caused by the coronavirus and hence the number of people present will be strictly controlled. Only the participants and musicians are allowed in the reherasal room. Maestro will be personally present. In Helsinki there will not be space for passive participants and we ask all visitors to stay outside of the building. Tee and coffee will be provided, but no other food untill further notice, please bring your own snacks.
Please follow the hand hygiene instructions and keep a clear physical distance to our Maestro, thank you!
Participants arriving from abroad are subject to quarantine rules of the local health authorities at the time of arrival (THL).
Problems caused to the participant by COVID-19 after the cancellation times (falling ill, quarantine and cancelled flights) will be refunded in the form of new course at the chosen later date.
If the course is cancelled by the organiser full refund will be made.

What is the schedule of the workshop? When do I get more information?
The schedule is normally as follows, but there might be slight changes to the timings. More information is sent to the participants after the payment has been made.

Mitä kurssimaksu sisältää?
Kurssin hintaan kuuluu 18-19 minuuttia johtamisaikaa päivässä. Orkesterina toimii 14-henkinen kapubändi. Suuremmista teoksista soitamme usein sovituksia, jotka on tehty niin, että on luontevaa johtaa alkuperäisestä partituurista. Professori Jorma Panula seuraa johtamista koko kurssin ajan.
Kurssin alussa järjestetään mahdollisuuksien mukaan partituurianalyysi. Mahdollisuus kysyä esim. ongelmapaikoista on koko kurssin ajan vapaamuotoisesti. Kunnioitathan kuitenkin muita opiskelijoita ja myös professorimme taukoa!
Kurssiin kuuluu kaksi ryhmävideosessiota, joissa jokaisella on henkilökohtaista opetusaikaa ja jonka jälkeen seuraa vapaamuotoista keskustelua kurssin kappaleista ja orkesterin johtamisen saloista!
Kurssimaksuun ei sisälly matkat, eikä majoitus.
Jokainen osallistuja hankkii käyttämänsä partituurit itse.
Passiiviopiskelijoiden maksuun sisältyy opetuksen seuraaminen kaikilta osin.
What is included in the workshop price?
The price includes 18-19 minutes podium time per day. The orchestra is 14-player rehersal orchestra. For large orchestrations we often use arrangements that are made so that it is natural to conduct from the original score. Professor Jorma Panula is teaching during the whole course.
In the beginning of the masterclass there will usually be a score analysis. There is a possibility to ask e.g. about problem places all along the course of the workshop. Please respect other students and Maestro's break time!
There are two group videosessions where everyone has a personal teaching time with Maestro Panula. That is followed by free conversation and a question time about the works on the masterclass and the secrets of conducting!
The travel and accommodation are not included and are the responsibility of each participant.
Participants are responsable for their own scores.
Passive student fee covers following the masterclass in all its parts.
Pitääkö koko listattu ohjelmisto valmistaa?
Ei. Voit valita vapaasti listatusta ohjelmistosta tai siihen tehdyistä lisäyksistä mitä haluat johtaa. Se voi olla myös vain osa tai valinnaisia osia. Ohjelmisto valintaa ei tarvi ilmoittaa etukäteen ja mieltään voi muuttaa vapaasti kurssin aikana.
Do I have to prepare all of the listed repertoire?
No. You can freely choose any piece or pieces from the listed repertoire. This can also be just a movement or selected movements. There is no need to let us know your choice beforehand and you are free to change your mind during the course.
Onko mahdollista johtaa muita kappaleita, kuin ohjelmistossa on listattu?
Voit esittää toivomuksen kappaleesta, jota haluaisit johtaa hakulomakkeessa netissä. Jos olet jo lähettänyt hakukaavakkeen, tee se uudestaan ja valitse 'Kurssin osallistujan viesti/Ilmoitus' (tämä ei luo uutta hakemusta, vaan lisäyksen jo olevaan) ja kirjoita selitys kohtaan ‘Lisätiedot, peruutukset, muutokset ja toiveet’ ja kappale kohtaan ‘Ohjelmistotoive’. Tämä tulee tehdä viimeistään kolme viikkoa ennen kurssin alkua. Ilmoitamme, jos kappale on mahdollista lisätä ohjelmistoon.
Can I conduct other pieces than those listed in the programme?
You can request a piece that you wish to conduct in the application form online. If you have already filled in the form, just redo it and select 'Applicants message to the organizers' (this will not create a new application, but simply add to your existing one) and write the explanation in 'Your message for the organizers, cancellations and requests' and the piece in 'Wish for repertoire'. This must be done at least three weeks before the course begins. We then will let you know if it is possible to add the piece to the workshop programme.
Miksi kurssille ei ole viimeistä ilmoittautumispäivää? Mistä tiedän onko kurssilla tilaa?
Kurssille otetaan kahdeksan-yhdeksän aktiiviopiskelijaa ilmoittautumisjärjestyksessä. Kurssille ilmoittautumisen jälkeen saat infokirjeen ja kaksi viikkoa maksuaikaa, jonka jälkeen maksamattomat paikat tulevat uudelleen hakuun. Peruutuspaikat myönnetään järjestyksessä jonossa oleville. Pyrimme ilmoittamaan jonossa oleville järjestysnumeron. Peruthan ilmoittautumisesi nettilomakkeen kautta, jos et pääsekään osallistumaan kurssille. Passiivi opiskelijoiden määrää ei ole rajoitettu. Lomake pysyy auki, koska kaikki ilmoitusasiat, muutokset, peruutukset ja toivomukset tulisi hoitaa jatkossa nettilomakkeen kautta.
Why there isn’t a deadline for applications? How do I know if there is still space on the workshop?
There will be eight to nine active participants on each workshop. Places are allocated in the order of applications. After the application you will receive an information letter and two weeks notice to pay for it. After that unpaid places are released for reapplication. Cancelled places are allocated in the order of a waiting list. We are trying to keep you informed of your place in the queue. In case you are unable to attend, we kindly ask you to cancel the place through the application form on the net . The number of passive students is not limited. The application form stays open as all the requests and cancellations should now be sent through that.
En pääse osallistumaan kaikkina päivinä. Miten toimin?
Kurssille voi ilmoittautua vain kokonaiselle kurssille ja hinta on aina sama. Joskus poikkeustapauksissa on mahdollista vaihtaa minuutteja päivältä toiselle, mistä tulee ilmoittaa nettilomakkeella etukäteen. Emme pysty takaamaan tätä mahdollisuutta. Kun kurssimaksun on suorittanut, voi kurssilta toki olla poissa yksittäisiltä päiviltä. Tiedotathan tässä tapauksessa.
I can only take part on some days of the masterclass. What can I do?
The application is only for the whole masterclass and the fee is always the same. Sometimes in exceptional circumstances it is possible to move the minutes from one day to another, but we cannot guarantee this. This information will need to be mentioned on the application form. After paying for the course, it is of course an option to miss some days. In this case, kindly inform us.
Miten tulisi toimia, jos haluan tulla seuraamaan opetusta?
Olitpa sitten kapellimestari tai oppilas, muusikko tai opettaja, Jorman tuttuja tai muuten yhdistyksemme ystävä, ilmoittaudu Passiivioppilaaksi Panula-Akatemian nettisivuilla panula-academy.com (WORKSHOPS - Apply Here). Tämä myös siinä tapauksessa, että olet jo sopinut asiasta suullisesti. Näin saamme kaikki tiedot automaattisesti oikeaan paikkaan järjestelmässämme ja myös tieto mahdollisista muutoksista tavoittaa kaikki. Passiivi osallistujan maksu on 80€/kurssi tai 30€/päivä. Jos osallistut vain jonain tiettynä päivänä, laita siitä tieto kohtaan `Lisätietoja`.
What should I do if I wish to come to observe the masterclass?
Whether you are a conductor or a student, musician or teacher, Jorma’s acquaintance or a friend of our charity, register as a Passive participant on our web page panula-academy.com (WORKSHOPS - Apply Here). Please do this also in case it has already been agreed verbally. This way we have all the information automatically in the right place in our system and also if there are any changes, the info reaches everyone. There is a fee of 80€/masterclass or 30€/day. If you are participating only in some days, write a note on the `Your message for the organizers`.
Kurssipaikan peruutusehdot
Maksamattomat paikat vapautuvat ilman erillistä ilmoitusta kahden viikon kuluttua.
Peruutus tapahtuu täyttämällä hakemuslomake uudelleen ja ilmoittamalla lisätietoihin, että kyseessä on peruutus. Peruutus on tehtävä viimeistään 4 viikkoa ennen kurssin alkua. Myöhässä tehdyistä peruutuksista peritään puolet kurssimaksusta. Alle viikko ennen kurssin alkua tehdyistä peruutuksista sekä peruuttamattomista kurssipaikoista peritään kurssimaksu kokonaisuudessaan.
Our cancellation policy
Unpaid reservations will be cancelled automatically after two weeks.
In case of a cancellation we kindly ask you to inform us as soon as possible using the application form. Refill the form on the web page and write “Cancellation” in the field “Note for the organizers”. The cancellation must be made four weeks prior to the event. Cancellations made less than four weeks before the event will be charged half of the tuition fee. Cancellations made less than one week before the event will be charged the whole tuition fee.
Onko mahdollista tulla soittamaan kapubändiin?
Kaikki kurssilaiset voivat osallistua orkesteriin omalla soittimellaan tai Turussa pianoa soittaen. Helsingissä on syntetisaattori, mutta ei pianoa. Patarumpuja ei ole käytettävissä. Tämä on osa opiskelua, eikä siitä makseta palkkiota. Satunnaisesti tarvimme soittajia orkesteriin viikonloppukurssille tai konserttiperiodiin. Näistä maksetaan palkkio sopimuksen mukaan. Is it possible to come and play in the orchestra?
All participants can join in playing their own instruments or the piano in Turku. In Helsinki there is a synthesizer, but there isn’t a piano available. There is no timpani in either location. This is seen as part of studying and there is no compensation paid for it. Occasionally we need players for the orchestra at the weekend workshops or at a concert period. These are paid for according to the contract. If you are interested in taking part, please send your contact details to info@panula-academy.com and we are in touch when a need arises.
