  • Decide on the “when” and “how” of survey administration and begin communicating with proctors, including securing needed technology in your building
  • Share critical information to engage your team and prepare for a smooth survey window!

Step 2: ENGAGE Stakeholders

Engage with stakeholders via sharing your goals for the work and how you're taking action on results - we encourage our partners to communicate with teachers and families:

    • Families: Sending a letter home with students), sending emails to families, and making phone calls to families.
    • Teachers: Outlining the school or district’s strategy for the year (customizable presentation).

Here are resources for increasing your response rates:

Step 3: Empower Proctors

Proctoring a survey is important. A proctor's role is to set the tone for students who are about to take their survey by explaining the opportunity for students to give feedback on their classroom and school experiences, leading to valuable data collection.

Step 4: Prepare your Technology

Use our Technology Checklist to ensure survey messaging and administration will run smoothly.

Step 5: Monitor your Response Rates

Higher response rates will be more representative of your community and will also lower the risk of non-response bias. Non-response bias is the when there are distinct differences between those who responded to a survey and those who did not.

  • Use the Response Rates Dashboard to monitor real-time response volume.
  • Download Completion Lists to see who has/hasn’t submitted a survey, and encourage specific individuals to participate!

STEP 6: SHARE GENERIC LINKS

Newly-enrolled students can still take the survey using generic links.
