Welcome!
Welcome to the Palmyra High School Library website! This site is designed to keep students, families, and staff informed, supported, and excited about reading and learning.
This website is your go-to hub for finding and using our library resources. Here, you can explore book award lists and book recommendations to help you find your next great read, search and find a book in our collection using Destiny, and get citation help for research projects and papers. You’ll also find access to Sora, our online reading platform for ebooks and audiobooks, as well as a link to our community’s public library.
The purpose of this site is to make it easy for you to find books, use library tools, and get the support you need. If I don't have a resource, I will help you find one!
Please use the buttons in the top right corner of this page to help you find what you are looking for.
I’m so glad you’re here, and I hope this site helps you make the most of everything the Palmyra High School Library has to offer.
LIBRARY IN ACTION
Below you will see students exploring creativity with our new cloud clay and LEGO set in the makerspace. These materials were purchased with funds from the Palmyra School Foundation Grant, and it has been exciting to watch students collaborate, build, and create. This month, you can also find a Sudoku puzzle on the bulletin board outside the library. It has quickly become a favorite among both students and staff. We have already solved ten puzzles together!
STUDENT INSIGHT
Student voice plays an important role in shaping the direction of our library. I asked students what they enjoy most about the space so I could better understand how the environment supports their learning, comfort, and sense of belonging during the school day. Their feedback helps guide future decisions while also giving readers a real glimpse into how the library is experienced by those who use it most. Including these perspectives allows this post to reflect not only my vision, but the voices of our students as well.
“The library is such a diverse space because there is something for everyone. That’s what draws people in and makes them want to stay.”
“Mrs. O’Brien makes the library feel welcoming. I can be myself here because the environment is relaxed.”
“The library feels like a detox from the stress of the day. When I’m here, I can feel at ease.”
“The library is a comfortable place where I can relax whenever I visit each day.”
LIBRARY NEWS
Great news! Thanks to the Palmyra School Foundation we had the opporutnity to apply for a grant. The library recently purchased materials and equipment to grow our Makerspace area.
Your Librarian
Hi! I’m Britne O’Brien, the High School Library Media Specialist at Palmyra High School. I’m passionate about creating a library that’s more than just a place for books; it’s a space for learning, creativity, collaboration, and curiosity.
Before stepping into the library, I spent several years in education and professional services, teaching fourth grade in Palmyra, fifth grade in Potosi, and working as an executive assistant for an HR consulting company. These experiences shaped my love for learning, organization, and helping both students and adults succeed.
When I’m not in the library, I enjoy spending time with my family and being outside whenever the weather is nice. My goal is to make sure every student who walks through our doors feels welcome and supported.
