Mr. Wertz

Hi Everyone,

I am Mr. Wertz, new school counselor at Palmerton Area High School for the 2025 and 2026 classes. I am very excited to be joining you all at PAHS! I believe in providing a safe and confidential space to meet with students. I strive to build connections with all students through attuned active listening and my continued presence. I have known that I wanted to be a school counselor since I was in high school myself. I was drawn to the profession through emotional intelligence and the helping connection to others.

After high school graduation, my college trajectory was tumultuous (seriously, ask me about it!). I am a graduate of Penn State University and then went on to Kutztown University to pursue my Master of Science in School Counseling. I will officially graduate from my program in May. During my time in the program, I worked as a school counseling intern at Whitehall-Coplay Middle School and Liberty High School. I am drawn to school counseling at the high school level because it is here that I can assist students to navigate such an important time in their lives, with so many options and opportunities at your fingertips. Whether your plan for after high school looks like college, trade school, or the workforce, we will work through all of this together!

While I am joining in the middle of our school year, I look forward to working with you all. Please do not hesitate to reach out or stop by the guidance office to check in. You can message me in Schoology or email me at kwertz@palmerton.org

Best,

Mr. Kevin Wertz
