Categories for All Learners
Access Point Learners - Students who are taught the Florida’s State Academic Standards for Science and Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics Access Points and are tested through the Florida Standards Alternative Assessment. The academic expectations are written specifically for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
Dual Language Learners - Students who are taught the Florida’s State Academic Standards for Science and Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics and participate in the Statewide Science Assessment in 5th grade. Students are taught in two languages to develop bilingualism, biculturalism, and biliteracy. The projects are written by students in a language other than English.
Regular Learners - Students who are taught the Florida’s State Academic Standards for Science and Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics and participate in the Statewide Science Assessment in 5th grade. This includes regular education students, English Language Learners, and inclusion students with an Individual Education Plan.
Gifted Learners - Students who are taught the Florida’s State Academic Standards for Science and Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics and participate in the Statewide Science Assessment in 5th grade. These are students with superior intellectual development and capable of high performance with an Education Plan that provides academic and social-emotional support.
