Citing the sources you use is an important part of the research process. Reasons for citing include:
Giving proper credit to individuals that you have learned from (whether you quote them or not).
Allowing others a way to find more information from the sources you have consulted.
Showing proof of your research process.
Helping to avoid plagiarism.
Remember: Even accidental plagiarism is still considered plagiarism!
