What is the Personal Project?
The Personal Project is a student-centered and age-appropriate exploration in which students consolidate their learning throughout the MYP. This long-term project is designed as an independent learning experience of approximately 25 hours. The Project formally assesses students’ Approaches to Learning skills for self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration (IBO.org). All sophomores will complete the Personal Project as the culminating experience of the MYP.
Project Components
There are three main components of the Personal Project:
1. Learning Goal: students set a learning goal based on something they find interesting.
2. Product or Outcome: can be a physical object (model, invention, etc.) an event (fundraiser, awareness play, etc.), or a creative piece (video, artwork, etc.).
3. Report: a detailed analysis of the entire project and process of development. The report may be written), or recorded orally or visually.
