The Palmyra-Macedon Central School District Wellness Committee plans, promotes and implements a culture of well-being among our employees to encourage a happy and healthy lifestyle. From fitness challenges to mental health resources, we’re building a culture that puts people first. Because caring for our team isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s how we create a stronger, more connected school community.
This month's theme, Signature Strengths, is a reminder that what we appreciate, appreciates, and it starts with us. When we use our strengths in small, daily ways and notice them in others, we fuel energy, engagement, and connection, exactly what Employee Health and Fitness Month and Teacher Appreciation Week call for.
May Signature Strengths Toolkit: Three flexible ways to bring strengths into your workplace: a Bingo board, a printable Recognition Card, and a four-week program. Pick one or share them all.
The Big Idea: Signature Strengths, Finding Your Sweet Spot: Darren Morton explores the intersection of passion, ability, and service — and why naming your strengths is the work that connects them.
FLASHP Community Health Magazine, Spring Edition: A welcome letter from Naples Wellness Coordinator Catherine Thayer, Good Life Challenge stories, district book clubs, digital detox and hydration initiatives, and healthy happenings community-wide.
Micro-Action of the Month: Each day, identify and use one personal strength in a small, intentional way. Spot it in the morning, lead with it during the day, reflect on it at night.
Lift Project Access: Year-round access to science-backed lessons that build resilience and sustainable well-being habits.
Our goal is to keep well-being front of mind and to stack small, sustainable wins over time. Take what fits your life, leave the rest, and come back each month to see what sparks you.
The Screentime Challenge- Starts May 1st
Our screens provide endless connection, but they can also fragment our focus and disrupt our sleep.
The Goal: Complete the 13 challenges and turn your paper into your building rep. Find it here.
Why take the challenge?
Better Sleep: Blue light inhibits melatonin. Giving your eyes a break helps you fall asleep faster.
Mental Clarity: Reducing "scroll-induced" dopamine spikes helps lower evening anxiety.
Presence: Use that hour to read, journal, or talk with a loved one without a device in hand.
Pro Tip: Charge your phone in a different room tonight to avoid the "one last scroll" temptation!
Over the next 10 months, we’ll be rolling out The Lift Project—a flexible journey to boost your well-being. Each month brings a new theme, paired with simple actions, mini challenges, wellness programs, community events, virtual keynotes, and practical activities you can actually use. Sign up by the end of October and be entered into a raffle for a prize. Ready to jump in? REGISTER HERE.
