August 2018: We met and realized we shared a common vision of creating a simple outreach program, and Community Connections began. We held two Back to School events in community neighborhoods serving 25 students.

September: We hosted a School Picture Prep event in the community. We gave out school picture outfits, haircuts, shampoo and toothbrushes. Families were provided with flyers for Grace House a partner in the event. We put smiles on kids’ faces.

October-November: We brought boot order forms to neighborhoods and went door to door handing them out. We sent forms home with our weekend wellness bags and began shopping.

December: We delivered boots, hats and gloves to families' houses. We provided 24 kids with warmth for the winter.

June 2019: We reflected on our events and made long range plans for our program. We chose four events to concentrate our efforts. School supplies, School Picture event, Winter Boots and Spring Sneakers. Our biggest goal to reach more families and more neighborhoods while still keeping the event staff at two-three.
