KA Library Learning Commons
The KA Book Club is hosted by Mrs. Hurley, Ms. Wittebolle and Mrs. McDougall, but really Mrs. Hurley is in charge. Everyone is welcome!
We are not a traditional book club that has it's members all read the same book and then discuss. There is sometimes the option to read a shared book that Mrs. Hurley has picked up from the LPL but most often we are just a group of people that like getting together to discuss what we're reading, books we love and characters that we may have a few complaints about.
If you are interested in joining the KAHS Book Club please let Ms. Wittebolle or Mrs. McDougall know. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, September 13 at lunch in the library learning commons. We'll see you there and bring a friend.
Book Club Read - March 2023
In 1979, Vincent Bianco has just graduated high school. His only desire: collect a little beer money and enjoy his final summer before college. So he lands a job as a laborer on a construction crew. Working alongside two Vietnam vets, one suffering from PTSD, Vincent gets the education of a lifetime. Now forty years later, with his own son leaving for college, the lessons of that summer—Vincent’s last taste of innocence and first taste of real life—dramatically unfold in a novel about breaking away, shaping a life, and seeking one’s own destiny. A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.
France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.
But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name. (chapters.ca)
