TECH-SAVVY TEENS
Lethbridge College’s Spatial Technologies Applied Research and Training (START) Centre, the hub for Alberta’s extended reality (XR) tech sector, presents the first provincial extended reality hackathon.
Hack and Seek: Alberta XR Career Quest invites students in grades 10, 11 and 12 to apply for the opportunity to compete May 3 to 5 to create a virtual reality (VR) application for use in a real-world scenario. Selected students will receive three online pre-event workshops to help them prepare for the competition, which will be held simultaneously in Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton. Coding and development experience is not required, but an interest in technology and a love of competition is.
This is an opportunity for students to explore a career path in the growing sector of XR technology while working with peers and industry insiders. Students will work in teams of three for a shot at bragging rights and a share of the $4,000 grand prize.
Students can find more information and an application form at the Hack and Seek webpage. The deadline to apply is March 11.
