How will the 1:1 program work?
All students in grades K-12 are provided with a Chromebook (including a carrying case and charger) for use to do school work at no cost to parents. An optional annual fee* will be available to cover accidental damage, theft, vandalism, mechanical failure, and manufacturer defects. We have partnered with a third party insurance provider for this protection plan.
The device will remain the property of the school district and will be required to be returned at the end of your student's career in Palisades
All use of District owned equipment is subject to the Palisades School District Acceptable Internet and Electronic Technology Use Policy which can be found by clicking here.
What are the optional Fees for the Loaner Program?
We have partnered with School Device Coverage to provide an insurance plan to cover your child's Chromebook in the event it becomes damaged. This insurance is completely at your discretion if you wish to purchase it or not. Please be aware that if you choose not to purchase insurance the district will invoice for damage to the device just as we would for any damage to district property. The invoice is for the cost of the parts to repair the device plus a $25 labor fee so the minimum cost for any repair will be greater than the $30 per year insurance cost.
The Platinum Plus program through School Device Coverage covers the following:
Accidental Damage
Cracked Screen
Liquid Submersion
Fire
Flood
Loss/Theft
Mechanical Failure
Note: chargers are not covered by this policy

The optional technology fee and repair costs will be waived for students whose family is in an economically disadvantaged situation. The District may assess a charge if the device is obviously damaged due to negligence or if accidental damage becomes chronic. For families to qualify for this waiver they must sign the Affidavit: Economically Disadvantaged form which is available from the guidance counselor at your child's school or below. This waiver must be renewed annually and must be turned in to your child's guidance counselor.
