A major purpose of the library is to guide elementary students as they begin to develop reading comprehension skills that lead to independent and structured inquiry. The library serves as a resource for finding information in traditional non-fiction texts as well as reference materials, online databases, and websites. In addition to curating sources of information, it is the librarian's role to provide instruction in skills that teach students to be critical and careful consumers of information. Classes collaborate with the library to identify additional sources of information for specific classroom projects and activities.
