Ben is the Supervisor of Educational Technology for Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12. In this role, he also serves as the STEM Coordinator for LIU. Prior to coming to the IU, he was a Physics Teacher at Red Lion Area High School in Pennsylvania for 27 years teaching AP Physics and Engineering as well as serving as the Science Chair. Ben was named as a Keystone Technology Integrator in 2005 and returned to the statewide summit as an instructor 5 times. Ben has over 20 years of experience as an education technology consultant working with schools, organizations and businesses around the world.
He served for 4 years on the ISTE Board of Directors and was awarded the prestigious Making IT Happen! Award in 2011 for his work internationally. Some of the groups he has worked with and presented for include Singapore Ministry of Education, NASA, HP, NBA, NSTA, Vietnam Provincial Governments, USVI Ministry of Education, and Fermilab National Accelerator in addition to schools and districts across the United States. Ben has twice presented on Capitol Hill on the topic of integrating technology in science. He has presented on topics of technology integration, science education, STEM and 21st century education across the globe and conferences such as ISTE, SITE, NCTET, NSTA, and PETE&C. Most recently, Ben served on the Technical Work Group for the ISTE Standards for Students. Ben also coauthors a monthly column for the NSTA’s Science Teacher.
