Maths Home/Remote Learning will focus on a number of aspects.
Number Bonds: To support learning in EYFS and Key Stage 1 we use Numbots
This website will help them to develop their Number knowledge including number bonds and patterns.
Times Tables: As children move through into Year 2 and beyond they will need to learn their Times Tables. is an online program that will allow your child to learn, practise and develop their knowledge of Times Tables. Challenge your friends (or teacher!) to a Times Table Battle and see who can become a rockstar!
Calculations are the way in which we solve questions. These might be through addition, subtraction, multiplication or division or perhaps two or three of these.
Some key terms we now use in Maths include:
Fluency: This is how children use strategies to develop their knowledge of the four operations e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication or division.
E.g. 23 + 5 =
Reasoning: 'How' did a child get to an answer? We now expect children to be able to explain their understanding.
E.g. 23 + 5 = 28 I know that 23 = 20 + 3 and then I need to add 5 to the 3 which gives me 8. So 20 + 8 = 28
Problem Solving: This is how the learning is used in a problem. What do I need to do to solve this problem?
E.g. I have 23 blue pencils and 5 red pencils, how many pencils do I have altogether?
Your child may be set learning on Google Classroom that is assigned. All work will be marked in a variety of ways which may include: verbally via a Google Meet, uploaded answers to self-mark at home, through Google Form Quizzes or individually by the staff. Further guidance and resources for home learning can be found in the Remote Learning Guide.
