Mr page's news update

Welcome back!

It has been lovely to see the school as a hive of activity, learning and excitement as the new term starts. We have hit the ground running and will not let the wet weather dampen our spirits or slow us down. 4T started with a trip to Herstmonceux Observatory. The children were extremely excited to share their experience with me when I saw them upon their return. Year 2 had a theatre company visit which fully engaged the children. We also saw the start of our Rock Steady Workshops. A huge thank you to Mrs Gough and Mrs Chapman for organising this amazing experience for the children. The trips, visits and excellent learning experiences continue next week and throughout the term.

It was brilliant to be able to invite parents into school for our open afternoon this week. The children were so proud to be able to show their learning and to celebrate all of the excellent progress they have made since parents evening. Working collaboratively with parents is key for us and we pride ourselves on serving the whole school community.

In addition to the wonderful learning experiences, we have celebrated World Thinking Day. The theme of this year's World Thinking Day is - Our World, Our Thriving Future. This focuses on creating a world that is inclusive and replete with equal opportunities for every girl to thrive and succeed. It was lovely to see so many children with different uniforms from external clubs. Well done everyone! We are also very proud of Isaac in Year 3 who is an ambassador for the Air Ambulance. We celebrated the amazing work that they do by wearing red. Thank you to everyone who has donated via MCAS.

I am extremely pleased to announce that Mrs Pervathi was successful in becoming a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). Her expertise will help and add capacity to our already fantastic team.

I will leave you with a quote by W.B Yeats that resonated with me - 'Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.'  All of the opportunities and everything we do on a daily basis is to engage and inspire children to foster a love of learning for life. I hope you have a good weekend when it arrives.

rocksteady workshop

This Wednesday Rock Stars from all year groups created their own bands and developed the collaboration, teamwork and reflective skills to enhance their musical knowledge. We are truly excited to see them perform later this year. Some of the parents and children have some fantastic feedback to share with you all.

“I really enjoyed Rock Stars yesterday. It was fun and I liked learning how to play the song, ‘We Will Rock you!’ I’m learning the keyboard and would love to sing too.”

"All three of my children came home buzzing about the first session. I have to say, I was sceptical about how they are going to get children (who may have never played an instrument) to play as a band. But from what my children have said it seems to be simple for them to pick up.

It’s great that mine are in different bands so they can share what they learnt and talk about the song they are going to perform. 1 lesson in and we are happy so far."
