Mrs early's news update
We started this week with an inspirational assembly from Captain Maryla Ingham who is the first female Captain of a Royal Navy ship HMS Protector. Captain Ingham told us all about the interesting scientific research that her ship undertakes in Antarctica as well as how they map the sea bed. She showed us images of underwater volcanoes which was really fascinating as well as a live map of all the shipping around the world !
Another highlight this week has been the Year 2 trip to Foalhurst Woods where children have practised using their very own mapping skills ! They also had great fun while they were there.
Thank you to all the EYFS parents that came along to our EYFS maths and phonics workshops this week. We really enjoyed seeing you and hope that the workshops have been useful in hearing about our approach to maths and phonics in Early Years but also how you can your support your children at home.
Don't forget next Friday is European Languages Day and we would like children to come to school dressed in the colours of a European flag of their choice. It is also the Macmillan Coffee morning that is taking place at the Paddock Wood Community Centre. We would be grateful if children could bring in cake donations on Friday morning to support the coffee morning.
Have a great weekend !
