It has been another busy but extremely successful week at Paddock Wood Primary Academy. We have seen children in Year 6 apply their learning throughout their time in school and to do this with a smile on their faces was amazing to see. I would like to thank all of the staff involved, parents for their support and the Year 6 team. I have also had extremely passionate Year 3 pupils find me this week. They are busy writing letters to convince me to change my mind on some plans for the school field, pond and wildlife areas around the school. I look forward to seeing if their letters can change my mind.
I am afraid it is not all positive. It has been bought to my attention that once again cars are accessing the school site when they should not be doing so (morning drop off and after school pick up). Please could I remind everyone who is driving onto school site to do so at extremely low speed and to not put any children or families at risk. The only cars coming onto site should be a blue badge holder or have this agreed by a member of the Senior Leadership Team or the Pastoral Team. I would like to encourage parents to continue to report this to staff and we will continue to speak to individuals who are not following these expectations.
Linked to driving into/to school; next week there is a national initiative to encourage children to walk to school. This is being organised by Living Streets. 'As a walking charity we want to remove barriers to active travel. We support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to enjoy walking, including travel by wheelchair or mobility scooter. Encouraging parents to park even a little way from the school reduces congestion and air pollution at the school gates and improves road safety. Walk to School Week, 20-24 May 2024.'
More information can be found here - https://www.livingstreets.org.uk/walk-to-school/primary-schools/walk-to-school-week/
As the weather continues to improve can we please remind you of the importance of a hat, suncream and plenty of water - can we please ask that everything is named if it comes into school, so we can return lost items to their owners.
I hope you have a good weekend when it arrives!
This week we are really proud of...
