Paddock Wood Primary Academy

Newsletter

Mrs Fidock's news update

With just one week to go of this term we can't believe how much we have squeezed into just 7 weeks! This week I have a few reminders and thank you's to share.

Proud@ reminder: If your child has something for us to celebrate, please remember to send in a photo and a little explanation. We want to be celebrating our children for displaying all Learner Profile Attributes both at school and home. Send your email to enquiries@paddockwoodprimaryacademy.org.uk

Shoe Box Appeal - thank you to all those families who were able to support with this appeal. I know the Rotary Club are so very grateful for our support this year.

Following our Harvest donations we recieved a lovely message from the Community Storehouse ...'It was so lovely to receive your harvest donations earlier this week, and you have really helped to stock up our shelves ready for a busy autumn and winter ahead. This is the time of year when we depend upon so many churches, schools and businesses to respond to the needs that are becoming more prevalent. We are seeing an increasing number of people who are struggling to balance their family budgets, with a difficult winter ahead for us all. The amount of your donations weighed in at 230 Kgs. Please pass our thanks onto everyone, pupils, parents and staff, who kindly participated in giving, so that The Community Storehouse can continue giving out to those in our local communities when a little bit of extra help is needed.'

Snack / Water: a gentle reminder that we please request a healthy snack (preferably fruit) and water only in water bottles. Thank you for your help with this and keeping us a healthy school.

Have a lovely weekend.

This week we are really proud of...

mAIA TayLOR zWANE

Maia has been attending an aerial arts class for the last two years. She has recently been learning how to perfect tricks on the silks without a knot to hold her up and she is also skilled at performing with a hoop. This is a wonderful picture of Maia from their website. Well done Maia for making excellent progress.

TAG rUGBY tOURNAMENT

Congratulations to our tag rugby teams. The squad took part in a tug rugby festival at Tonbridge Juddians on Wednesday. Both teams played exceptionally well and in the right spirit of the event, eventually winning their respective groups. Well done to all who participated.

Curriculum corner

Each week we want to give you ideas to enable you to support your child at home with a particular aspect of the curriculum. Our subject leaders will be sharing hints and tips to help you along the way and will be offering further ideas and resources that you might like to access at home. This week our focus is.... Mental Health.

PSHE: Mental Health

This week was Mental Health Day and something that we feel strongly about in school. This year we have introduced Zones of Regulation to help our pupils identify their emotions and how they can use self-help strategies to 'Get back to Green' and ready to learn or how to approach an adult if they need more support. Mental Health needs to be an on-going discussion both at school and at home. For more parent support please go to: https://www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/

phoenix dance and world mental health day

As part of World Mental Health Day on 10th October, Phoenix Dance joined in with Young Minds #HelloYellow.

The main aim of this was to raise awareness of young people and mental health and to show them they are not alone in any struggles they may have. What they feel matters.

At last week’s lessons I sat down with the dancers and we had an awesome chat about what is mental health, how they support their mental health and what makes them feel happy and positive.

Mental health in our young people has never been so important. Let’s check in with them and let them know it’s ok, validate their feelings, thank them for sharing, let them know that you love them, ask them what you can do to help them and spend time together thinking about what’s making them feel this way.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. WHAT YOU FEEL MATTERS.

Office Messages

During the half term break we will moving all payments from ParentPay to MCAS. We will no longer have access to any information on ParentPay. Please ensure any outstanding balances are cleared before the end of term as we will then need to transfer any credit onto MCAS ready for next term. If you use Auto-Top Up on ParentPay please make sure you have switched this off by the end of next week!

Nut Free School

Please can we remind all parents that we are a nut free school.

Please ensure your child does not bring nuts or any items containing nuts (including Nutella/Chocolate and Hazelnut spread sandwiches, biscuits) into school for snacks or packed lunches. If you are not sure please check the ingredients list on the label and keep a look out for any nuts or nut products such as almond paste or nut oil.

We have members of our school community with serious nut allergies and we want to keep everyone safe.

Thank you

community storehouse

After a hugely successful Harvest Festival donation to the Community Storehouse this month, we now have plastic donation boxes on the KS1 and KS2 playground, next to the Lost Property boxes, so that we can have a rolling donation to support local families.
