We are very excited to see parents and carers next week at our parent consultations and share our learning with you. In addition to children recording their learning in their individual books, classes also keep ‘floor books’ which celebrate the wonderful breadth of learning across a range of subjects. They also help children to look back and remember their learning. In particular they also show how children develop international mindedness (a key area of our PYP framework.) We are very proud of the way children show more than knowledge and skills they have learnt, but are also able to show empathy and be thoughtful and caring.
This week we have also finalised our shared rules based on our core values of ‘respect’, ‘persevere’ and ‘aspire’. We have put this into an easy acronym to remember ‘PWPA’. Please do reinforce this at home. Thank you for your support.
Today was a Bereko fundraising day and children have been making friendship bracelets. It is fantastic that there is such a long-standing relationship between Paddock Wood and Bereko since 2007 which enriches both communities. In the October half term Mrs Thorne Large and Mrs Bienz will be visiting Bereko and teaching at the school as well as taking supplies. We look forward to hearing all about it when they return. Don’t forget that the PTA will be holding a fantastic fireworks night on Sunday 5th November. We do hope that you can come along.
Have a good weekend.

As part of World Mental Health Day on the 10th October Phoenix joined in with Young Minds #HelloYellow. The main aim of this is to raise awareness of young peoples mental health and to show them they are not alone in any struggles they may have. What they feel matters.
At this weeks lessons I sat down with the dancers and we had a awesome chat about what is mental health, how they support their mental health and what makes them happy and feel positive. Mental health in our young people has never been so important. Let’s check in with them and let them know it’s ok, validate their feelings, thank them for sharing, let them know that you love them, ask them what you can do to help them and spend time together thinking about what’s making them feel this way.
Phoenix is a great family and I’m proud to watch the kids support each other weekly in a space they feel safe and secure in.
Let’s keep the conversation going. Let’s show them that whatever they’re going through they’re not alone.
Did you know YoungMinds also have a free parent helpline and web chat open Monday- Friday.

The School Council invited the local Rotary Shoe Box Appeal team to our KS2 Assembly earlier this week.
We learnt about how some families in Moldova and Ukraine will not be able to celebrate Christmas and have gifts in the way we do. But we also learnt that we can help by collecting small gifts for Christmas which could fit in a shoe box and be taken by lorry all the way to these East European countries.
A letter was sent home on Monday explaining more.
Thank you to everyone for your amazing support!
