We have had another week with a school full of visitors, both in person and virtual. The whole team have worked tirelessly to ensure our visitors have seen just how brilliant the academy really is. The challenge the children are given in class, the framework of the IB and the use of digital technology were identified and our IB Consultant couldn't praise our children enough for just how engaging, creative and articulate they were about both their knowledge and learning. I collected our Jubilee sapling last week and we have managed to plant this yesterday. We are just getting a plaque to mark the Platinum Jubilee and this will be placed next to the tree.
Whilst we have been busy with learning, the war in Ukraine continues to rage on and our community are wanting to help in any way possible. On Wednesday next week we would like to ask that children come to school in their uniform with the addition of something yellow/blue to show their support for the families displaced, and we would like to ask for a donation of £1 (or more) to be made via ParentPay - all money raised will go directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) who are working with 15 other charities. We are also working with the wider community to receive donations to be transported to the region and we will circulate what is needed, if you feel you are able to donate.
Next Thursday will mark a year since Scott Opstad died. As a staff, we have decided to remember him in our own way, with some quiet reflection. His wife Emily requested at the time for people to light a candle, so staff will do the same on Thursday evening. If as a family you would like to do the same, it would be a lovely way to honour a much loved and missed man.
'The connections we make in the course of a life - maybe that's what heaven is.' Mr Rogers
This week we are really proud of...
Our team has spent the last term pulling everything together for our Primary Years Programme Pre-authorisation visit by the International Baccalaureate. This was made even harder, as the visit was virtual. The visit was a huge success and the whole community of students, staff, parents and governors were involved - thank you to everyone.
This week Nelly, Kuba, Leo, Jack and Isaac (Year 4 ) and Woody (Year 2) spent their weekend putting together a cake sale to support children in Ukraine. They raised a whopping £635!! We are really proud of you all for being so caring and thinking of others. Well done kids.
