Mrs Fidock's news update
It's half-term and time for a well-earned break for the children. This week has flown by, with so much learning and celebration of achievement. Year 6 continue to be absorbed in their learning about WWII and the writing they have produced demonstrates their empathy with the evacuees and people living during the Blitz. Year 5 have been Times Table Rockstar superstars and 5G came first in the Trust Battle - beating all the other primary academies! In Year 4 they have been inspired by their electricity learning - even challening me to complete a game (which I didn't manage!). Trains and bridges have been the focus for Year 3's DT this term and I enjoyed watching 3B trying to build a strong enough structure to take the given weight - their collaboration skills were brilliant and they managed to produce some very good suspension and arch bridges. Art has been a focus in Key Stage 1, with Year 2 looking at producing physical geography landscapes and Year 1 being influenced by Ted Harrison. EYFS continue to explore their central idea and I was asked (very politely) to be quiet when I interrupted a story telling session run by children outside, with one sitting in the chair and sharing his own story.
This week we have also been excited to learn that the EYFS building will be getting a much needed refurbishment over the summer, thanks to the Trust. We've seen the first plans and await their next ideas following a site meeting. Once we have the final plans, we will share these with you! Key Stage 1 are having a small make-over this half-term, with new carpets for all the classrooms - we know it's going to look so smart.
Please have a lovely week and we'll see you on Monday 21st February.

This week we are really proud of...
Isla
Isla competed in her second ever gymnastics competition on Sunday competing in the Kent championships for floor and vault and she ended up coming 4th over all in her age group.
We are so proud of you Isla, well done!
From FEBRUARY 14th - MARCH 2nd we will be holding a sponsored read in conjunction with Usborne Books and World Book Day! This sponsored read will generate some much needed, new books across the entire school.
As a school, we are aiming to raise £600 - if we hit this goal, Usborne Books will add an additional 60% worth of books for FREE!
Your child will be coming home with a sponsorship form. As a recommendation, a donation could be 5p per minute of reading.
We also have book vouchers for individuals in each year group who have shown particular effort across the sponsored read!
children's mental health
Each week we want to give you ideas to enable you to support your child at home with a particular aspect of the curriculum or in general. Our subject leaders will be sharing hints and tips to help you along the way and will be offering further ideas and resources that you might like to access at home. This week our focus is.... Mental Health.
Child Mental Health~ Parents' toolkit
It is worrying and stressful for any parent to see their child having difficulty with their mental health, and when you search for information it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve compiled 'Mental Health Difficulties in Children and Young People. A Toolkit for Parents'. It is designed to provide an overview of the key topics, signpost to further information from trusted sources, and share insights from parents and young people who have been through it.
This toolkit will help you to:
Understand good mental health and mental health difficulties in children and young people
Be aware of why and when difficulties can arise and what to look out for
Know how to help your child if they are struggling
Know when and how to get professional help
Understand that you need to look after yourself, too.
This toolkit has been produced in collaboration with CMHA members PwC, Morgan Stanley and the Bank of England and leading mental health organisations Place2Be, Young Minds and The Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People.

PARENTPAY ACCOUNT
Please remember to top up your account prior to the start of next term. All club and meal bookings must be paid for in advance.
House keeping
We are always looking to maintain and improve our outside space and facilities for the children to enjoy during the school day. Please ensure children respect our facilities and do not play with toys and equipment at the beginning and end of the school day. Our staff work hard to keep this all tidy and in good working order and it is very frustrating to have to tidy up twice.
