Mrs Fidock's news update

We can't believe the first week back is already over and with only 6 weeks left to go we still have so much to do! Our wonderful PTA are in the final stages of arrangements for the Summer Fayre - please do come along next Saturday and take part, we have lots to keep you and your family entertained.

On Monday, Lola started her Dog Mentor training - we are delighted that she passed with flying colours and she now has her own Dog Mentor coat for when she is working. Thank you to Jenny from the Dog Mentor Team for all her hard work with our staff and Lola. Photos below.

On Tuesday we had Kent Moderators in to look at our Year 6 writing. Our moderator was blown away by the quality of the writing across the year group - well done to all the pupils and staff in Year 6. We are also in the final stages of Phonics testing in Year 1 and some Year 2, the Year 4 Multiplication check, Key Stage 1 Teacher Assessment and EYFS' Good Levels of Development - all the outcomes will be shared with you before the end of the year.

On Sunday a few of the choir sang at the Thanksgiving Service for the Queen at St. Andrew's Church. Thank you to all those that were able to make it and it really was a lovely service to mark the Platinum Jubilee.

As we emerge from Covid, we are starting to re-establish links with our partnership with Bereko in Tanzania. To help us relaunch this special link and to reinvigorate our school house system we have a competition for you to take part in below...scroll down to find out more.

Author visits

Both Years 4 and 5 were immersed in reading and writing this week when a couple of authors came to visit!

In Year 4, Clare Povey discussed one of her books: The Unexpected Tale of Bastien Bonlivre, A classic adventure story about friendship, hope, bravery and the power of imagination. Getting signed books, bookmarks, understanding what it takes to become an author and taking part in a writing workshop made for a fantastic Thursday afternoon!

Year 5 had the amazing Darren Simpson who discussed one of his books, Memory Thieves: 'A secret mission to discover the truth about the sanctuary...'

Building a new world, receiving signed books and bookmarks was a special moment for them all. Many Year 5 children have been reading this in class already and are in awe of the text!
