Mrs Fidock's news update
Spring is slowly arriving and the flowers are making our outside area look a bit brighter - hopefully the warmer weather will start to follow.
We having been talking this week about the Coronation and what we might do for this historic occasion. Whatever we do, you will be invited, so please keep Friday 5th May (PM) free if you would like to attend. Our plans for the rest of the year are being finalised and we will be writing to let you know about Parents Evening, Sports Days etc. ASAP. Year 2 staff will be inviting parents in for a SATs meeting, where they will share with you what to expect and we will do the same for Year 6 nearer the time.
Since the PTA have purchased the cooking stations it's been full steam ahead. We've had Pancakes (Year 1) , Bombay Potatoes (Year 6) and both Cookery Clubs have been busy baking. This equipment has been so vital in enhancing our Design Technology provision. We are planning on some inter-house cooking competitions, so please watch this space if you think you might be the new Monica Galetti or Marco Pierre White!
On Thursday it was World Book Day. The children loved dressing up and seeing all the staff joining in...trying to work out which book character they were. This wonderful day helps children both understand the importance of reading, and the pleasure it can give. The older children joined a live chat with authors and illustrators which they thoroughly enjoyed and links in with our Careers Week next week. We hope they were able to tell you about it when they arrived home. Thank you for your support with this, it's always such good fun.

Curriculum corner
This week our focus is.... Safeguarding
This is our Child Friendly Safeguarding Policy
Safeguarding
Safeguarding at PWPA is top of the list. These are some of the actions we take to ensure all children and staff are safe from harm:
First day calling when children are absent.
Annual training for all staff on the new Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance (KCSIE 22).
Regular quiz questions for staff to check they understand and apply their training.
Home visits if we can't get hold of a family.
Child Friendly Safeguarding Policy in all year group areas.
Posters all over the school for staff, visitors, parents and children about keeping safe and who to talk to.
Stickers on all child devices about how to keep safe online.
Regular assemblies about keeping safe either online, in school or out and about.
All concerns are reported to the Safeguarding team (Mrs Fidock - Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Gunning, Mrs Penning, Mr Page - Deputy Safeguarding Leads) on Bromcom.
Weekly DSL Mtg. to discuss all concerns raised and what actions have been taken.
