Mr page's news update

Another week has been and gone. It has been brilliant to see the children fully immersing themselves into their inquiries and learning. Year 5 had a brilliant time cooking and making their very own Viking inspired biscuits. The school is preparing for World Book Day and I would like to thank Miss Eager and Mr Chorley for organising our 'costume swap' to help support families and the school community.

This term we are having a particular focus on behaviour for learning. At Paddock Wood Primary Academy our curriculum uses the philosophy of the IB PYP framework. This enables pupils to develop learner attributes so that they become knowledgeable, active inquirers, communicators, are open-minded, reflective and able to act with agency. Our high expectations for learning behaviours supports the development of the whole pupil, physically, emotionally and intellectually.

In addition to reminders in lessons and reinforcing high quality behaviours for learning, we are also going to be opening a 'reflection room' at lunchtimes. This is in response to our behaviour analysis that is completed every module. There has been an increase in behaviours that are not in line with our high expectations on the playground. The Reflection Room will enable staff to supervise children on the playground rather than dealing with low level behaviours. This room will be monitored and supervised by members of the Senior Leadership Team.  If we see repeated behaviours on a consistent basis, class teachers will contact parents in the first instance.  All children have been reminded of our expectations and told about the Reflection Room.  The children's responses have been positive and we hope this will create a calmer, happier and safer school environment all day.

I would like to thank the PTA for organising the Valentines disco - we look forward to seeing lots of happy children.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend when it arrives.
