Generic roles and responsibilities
Be aware of the ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ criteria that the Academy is currently meeting.
Identify and improve those areas relevant to your role which need to move from good to outstanding.
Take part in the self-evaluation of the Academy and quality assurances procedures.
Maintain Trust and Academy policies and procedures relevant to your area and update as required.
Attend meetings, forums and other events that relate to your area.
Lead and manage staff and students in your area to inspire, raise aspirations and improve achievement.
Share good practice across the Academy and Trust.
Develop an appropriate induction programme for new staff.
Work with staff at all levels as a whole Academy.
Subject Development
Develop an action plan for your subject with a clear intent, implementation and impact and review three times a year.
Update and review subject policy annually to ensure it is in line with Trust policy, Apolicy and national guidance.
Audit resources annually to ensure equipment/ materials are appropriate and usable.
Teaching and Learning
Monitor teaching and learning and pupil progress in line with the Academy’s policy at least three times in an academic year. This includes:
Lesson observations
Learning walks
Work scrutiny
Review curriculum coverage documents termly and liaise with SLT if necessary.
Engage in pupil voice opportunities to ensure pupils understand the key ideas in your area and understand their learning.
Develop a set of non-negotiables and include this in monitoring.
Assessment
Ensure staff have access to any assessment materials needed.
Liaise with SLT to ensure assessment is robust and inline with academy and trust policy.
Complete data analysis termly (English, Maths and Science).
Ensure staff are meeting deadlines set and follow up where necessary.
Curriculum
Review and monitor the scheme of learning in your subject area.
Know how your area progresses across the different age ranges and the expectations of each year group.
Be able to offer support and guidance to staff if asked, or know who to liaise with to find this.
CPD
Undertake professional development for the area through either trust organised events or through other agencies.
Deliver CPD sessions to all staff in the Academy.
