Mrs Fidock's news update

It's wonderful to have the sunshine - and despite the heavy downpour on Tuesday, both Year 4G and 6C enjoyed their days out. We continue to look at the learning that we have going on around the school and the standard of work continues to impress us. Our new Early Years children have been visiting this week and they were full of questions, curiosity and fun - they really enjoyed playing with our exisiting children and getting familiar with the site. Next week we have our first full-school transition on Tuesday and we will write to you the same day to let you know which class your child will be moving into and who their new teacher will be - we do have some staff leaving and we will let you know on the same day who these will be. We continue to have issues with parents driving on site - this is not acceptable. The only vehicles allowed on site at the beginning and end of the day are taxis and blue badge holders (and these must be displayed), we can't man the gate daily and we'd hope parents are able to see the possible implications of having too many vehicles moving on site while the children are coming in and going home - please keep to the rules so our children are safe. Thank you for all your support - we look forward to seeing many of you at the PTA Fun Friday later today and it's also an opportunity to meet Mrs Early, the new Principal, who will also be visiting.

Office Messages

Parking remains an issue this week. It is becoming increasingly dangerous at drop off and pick up. Parents are NOT to drive on site at these times. The car park is for staff only. Please do not park in the car park - there is simply not enough room for parents and staff and therefore creates a dangerous situation for your children as they arrive and leave for the day.

bereko day

As you are probably aware, next Friday we are holding a fund-raising 'Bereko Day' to support our partner school and its community in Bereko, Tanzania, by asking the children to pay £1 to wear their own clothes in the colours of the Tanzanian flag - blue, green, black or yellow. This can be paid via MCAS.

Times are really hard in Bereko. The rains have not come, they have had no decent harvest for several years now, and food has run out. People are having to leave the village to look for work and food elsewhere. If you would like to make an extra, totally voluntary donation, the children can bring it in on the day.

The School Council and Language Ambassadors are busy creating a lot of fun activities for the children to take part in on the day to raise awareness both of where our partner school is and what life is like. These will include music and dancing, wildlife and physical challenges. It should be a really fun day!

Thank you in advance for your support.

south east water works

We have been informed that South East Water are planning to upgrade the water supply network in Paddock Wood by replacing an ageing, burst-prone water main with a new, wider pipe in Mascalls Court Road.  This will reduce the amount of disruption caused by frequent bursts and will allow South East Water to secure top-quality drinking water supplies to Paddock Wood and the surrounding areas as the local population increases.

The project forms part of an ongoing £489 million programme of investment to improve the water supply network, and is an investment of £200,000 to enhance the supply network in Paddock Wood.

Works will take place within Mascalls Court Road, between the junctions with Chantler’s Hill and Linnet Avenue, starting on Monday 26 June. Work is expected to take approximately 11 weeks to complete. For the safety of village residents, motorists and the workforce, Mascalls Court Road will be closed to through traffic between Linnet Avenue and Chantler’s Hill for the duration of the project meaning that there will be no access onto Mascalls Court Road from Green Lane.  However there will be access to both homes and business from the direction of the Maidstone Road.  South East Water advise all traffic to follow the official diversion route at all times. The diversion, agreed with Kent Highways, is suitable for all traffic and is the safest route. Road signs will be placed in advance and will remain in place for the duration of the project.
