Mrs Fidock's news update
What a fabulous week. Sports Days have been taking place all week and it's been wonderful to see all the children taking part and demonstrating their resilience and team spirit - the scores will all be combined and the winning house will be announced. Thank you to all those parents who were able to attend and support these events, the children love to see you and be cheered on enthusiastically.
We've been really impressed by the learning this week as well - we've seen some outstanding work in response to Macbeth in Year 6 and some wonderful poems in Year 1. Year 3 made Halloumi Burgers and have been working with Weald of Kent Grammar School's Art Lead to create some excellent work after looking at Kent artist Graham Clark - we'll have some photos later this term when they've finished.
On the 27th June we have our first transition session; we will write to you on the day to let you know which class your child will be in and which teacher they have. As always, we will be mixing Year 5 as they transition into Year 6 and we are working with their current teachers to identify the best class for next year - the children will also be given a google form to help identify at least one friend they would like to be with next year. If you have a child in another class and would like us to consider moving them into a new one, please speak to the class teacher in the first instance - thank you.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine. To all those Dads, Grandads, Uncles and carers or just a wonderul role model, past and present - we wish you a very happy Father's Day.

This week we are really proud of...
Mrs Thorne
Mrs Thorne is completing a university course and achieved a distinction in her first assignment. We think she deserves this award for being brilliant and demonstrating that learning never stops.
PWFC U10's TOPCATS
Last weekend Paddock Wood FC U10's Topcats won the Tunbridge Wells Youth FC Tournament Plate Trophy. They showed fantastic resilience and spirit coming back from a poor start to the day, in excessive heat, by winning 2-0 against Westerham Lions in the Final. Their first ever trophy after many close events. Well done boys, what a fantastic achievement!

Curriculum corner
Each week we want to give you ideas to enable you to support your child at home with a particular aspect of the curriculum. Our subject leaders will be sharing hints and tips to help you along the way and will be offering further ideas and resources that you might like to access at home. This week our focus is....RSE.
RElationship, Health and Sex Education (RSE)
This term we will be dealing with the element of RSE that can be challenging to talk about with your child. We want you to know that we are here to support and there are some brilliant websites to help you.
Our Jigsaw RSE/PSHE Curriculum is fantastic and this is used in school all year to educate children about:
Being Me in My World: self-identify, feeling special and safe, hopes and fears, setting personal goals, being part of a class team, being a citizen and choices, consequences and rewards.
Celebrating Difference: identifying talents, similarities and differences, assumptions and sterotypes, families and their differences, judging by appearance, cultural differences and perceptions of normality.
Dreams and Goals: challanges, setting goals, perserverance, motivation and enthusiasm, resilience, careers and emotions in success
Healthy Me: exercising bodies, keeping myself healthy, relaxation, attitudes towards drugs, alcohol, smoking and vaping and exploitation.
Changing Me: respecting my body, life cycles (animatls and humans), difference in female and male bodies (correct terminology), outside/inside body changes, being unique, puberty for girls/boys and respect and consent.
Relationships: family life, belonging to a family, different types of family, keeping safe online, jealousy, online gaming and gambling and love and loss.
This is a summary of learning across all year groups, to see the full curriculum please click here. The RSE Policy can be found here.
When we deal with the changing me section you will recieve a letter detailing what will be covered in the year group for your child. If you would like to talk about anything or ask any questions, please speak to the class teacher in the first instance.
