Building on our huge sporting successes this year, we are looking forward to all our Sports Days starting next week. The children have been busily practicing and we have linked their learning to the upcoming Olympic Games. All of the children are looking forward to representing their House Team - let's hope the weather is sunny, but not too hot!! Please could we remind all parents/carers that the children will need their water bottle, a sun hat and sun-cream everyday - this means we can keep them outside as the temperature hopefully increases. In the case of any adverse weather that makes the field unsafe, we will make the decision to move sports day to the reserve date and communicate this to parents via MCAS by 08:30.
In order to keep children safe and our site secure, we will be asking parents to drop their children off as normal to their classes. If you wish to stay and wait for the Sports Day to start then we are happy for any parents to make their way to the field. We are aiming to start the events at 09.30. Please note that the gate will be locked at 09:45 and will not reopen until Sports Day events have ended.
If you are visiting the school to drop your child off or if you are joining us for our Sports Day events, please take some time to look at the back field. We have had a compass installed on the field in memory of Mr Opstad. We also have upcoming plans for the back playground and are looking forward to developing this area further (do not worry Year 3, I am not putting a power plant on the field!!).
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and please do your sun dances for next week.
This week we are really proud of...
Beau and two friends went along to Soccer Aid to support UNICEF, a world wide charity for children. It was a great experience and he has learnt that ‘We are One’. A realisation that not every child has the same opportunity to live, love and learn.
Over the weekend, Frank played with his team, the Maidstone Ambers, against Paddock Wood, winning 3-0. They showed brilliant teamwork and resilience, once again winning an impressive trophy for their victory. We are so proud of you!
This week has been 'Young Carers Week' and here at Paddock Wood Primary Academy we like our Young Carers to feel appreciated. Recently we have been joining in celebrating 60 years of Imago who help provide support and opportunities to people, families, and communities. The KFC club (Kind, Friendly Carers) decided on a 60 minute art attack with the theme ' Through The Eyes Of A Young Carer' and what a piece they created. Imago were so impressed it was published in their newsletter (see picture below), and is up at school proudly hung in the small hall.
The Wellbeing Champions also helped celebrate our Young Carers by writing them letters making them feel seen and heard.
Young Carers each have their own daily struggles but at the academy we like to remind them they are not alone.
If you think your child may be a Young Carer please speak to our Pastoral team or check out Imago at https://www.imago.community/.
Each week we want to give you ideas to enable you to support your child at home with a particular aspect of the curriculum. Our subject leaders will be sharing hints and tips to help you along the way and will be offering further ideas and resources that you might like to access at home. This week our focus is....
