Paddock Wood Primary Academy

Mrs Fidock's news update

Happy New Year to you all and to our families celebrating Chinese New Year, 新年快乐

Despite the cold, wet weather, we have started the term full of energy. We are having a refresh of all our displays and it's been lovely to see so much new learning going up around the building. Our focus on reading continues and we have added a new Lending Library in the front office for all families to take advantage of. Please do come in and browse through the selection on offer (mostly adult books at the moment) and then once you've read it, please bring it back for someone else to enjoy. We also had an exciting delivery of mobile kitchens - purchased by the PTA for our use. They look like the Bake-Off cooking stations and we can't wait to get them in use throughout the academy. A huge thank you to the PTA for investing in these, we couldn't have done this without your support. Photos of them in use will follow in due course.

Cars on site: Just a reminder that only Taxi's/ Blue Badge holders and parents of children with temporary medical issues e.g. broken leg, may drive onto site. We will continue to man the gate in the mornings to ensure consistency to this rule. This allows our children to walk onto site safely, so thank you for your help with this.

Phones: As children start to walk home on their own, they are allowed to bring a phone with them to school. This is stored in a box in class - if the child hands this in. Can I please remind you to ensure these phones are labelled in some way, have a screen protector on and a robust case - whilst we are happy to store them we take no responsibility for them whilst on school site and they could be damaged if a child throws their phone into the box. Thank you for your help with this.

Current Covid Guidelines:

If a child gets a positive test, they should remain at home for 3 days.

If an adult gets a positive test, they should (where possible) remain at home for 5 days.

Thank you for your continued support for our academy.

Calling all parents and children...please look through all your fidgets at home and donate any unwanted items to us! We are hoping to start a fidget swopping/sharing/exchange club (name to be confirmed) where students can come and play with the different fidgets and then take home for a week to then swop out the following week. Children can bring fidgets in and give to their class teachers or parents can hand in to the office.

We appreciate your support on this and hope that this will be a fun and interactive club for all the children to enjoy.
