It's been lovely to have the children back in school this week and it sounds as though everyone enjoyed the 2 week half-term. We have 6 weeks before Christmas and we need to fit lots into these weeks - including another Inquiry, Performances, Open Evenings/Events for new Reception families and not to mention seasonal celebrations. We have most things in the diary already, so please do keep an eye on the dates ahead section. Can I please remind you that on the last day of term, we all finish at 2pm and there will be no After-School Club and that there is also an INSET day on the 26.11.21 for all children.
On Thursday we took part in Remembrance Day and the children all stopped for the 2 minutes silence. Most classes also produced some thoughtful work and we will be sharing some examples with you in next week's edition. On Sunday, a number of staff and children will be taking part in the Remembrance parade with wreathes from the school. Thank you for all your generous donations to the Poppy Appeal - we had so much interest we ran out of poppies!
What has caught our attention this week? See who deserves our Proud@ awards this week.
For organising and hosting the Firework event - thank you for giving up your time, energy and enthusiasm to raise money for Paddock Wood Primary Academy.
On Sunday, 7th November, at Ashford Sports Hall, Alathaea in 6C represented Paddock Wood Athletics Club, competing against 17 different clubs in track and field events. She was first in speed bounce, vertical jump, and long jump (with a group best of 1.83m) as well as being part of the relay race (2nd and 3rd in two races). Overall, the team finished 4th. Well done Alathaea and the rest of the team!
At the weekend Wilf did really well in his Halloween jumping competition at Pony Club! He got a 2nd individual and 3rd with his team. He also got a special mention for his costume! Well done Wilf!
A huge well done to Nancie for cutting her hair to raise money for the Prince's Trust. We are so proud of your effort and determination to raise money for those in need. Your new hair looks lovely too!
Each week we want to give you ideas to enable you to support your child at home with a particular aspect of the curriculum. Our subject leaders will be sharing hints and tips to help you along the way and will be offering further ideas and resources that you might like to access at home. This week our focus is...Science.
WOWScience is an online platform to help engage children with Scientific ideas and skills. https://wowscience.co.uk/
Have a look at this activity - whether you are in EYFS or Y6 this link will allow you to explore how sound is created, how it travels and what it looks like. https://wowscience.co.uk/resource/chrome-music-lab/ - it's also good fun and even adults will enjoy exploring this with you, so why not give it a go and see what you discover?

A huge thank you to the PTA for organising and hosting the PTA Fireworks on 7.11.21. We sold out of tickets before the event and the evening was a total success. This was a first for a number of reasons:
First use of the QR code for tickets and bookings - which allowed the PTA to continually monitor the number of people on site and to ensure tickets were not copied.
First card machines in use for the PTA - again this worked well and we will continue to use these for future events.
First major event since Covid-19 for the PTA and community as a whole - it was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves.
The PTA have raised a staggering £8,800 for PWPA - thank you to all those involved that kept everyone fed, watered and safe!
