Mrs Fidock's news update

This term started with a bang, whizz and whoosh with the PTA Firework event - thank you to the PTA for ensuring this popular event continued despite the weather.

On Wednesday we held our EYFS Open Event where we proudly showed off our new refurbished EYFS and shared the work across the school - our prospective parents were full of questions and positive comments about what they saw - we're looking forward to seeing more over the coming weeks for our EYFS tours.

Thank you to all those parents who shared achievements outside of school for our newsletter this week (see below), remember that if your child has a hobby or has learned a new skill please do email a photo into the school office and we can share this with our whole community.

Our careers learning continues to be a focus and we would like to thank all those parents who have already offered to come in and speak to the children about their career and what it looks like in action. We are looking to recruit more - so if you would be willing to come in and talk to a class, or year group, or whole school about what you do we would love to hear from you. Please email into the school office and ask for your email to be forwarded to Mrs Bienz.

We also had a visit from the Rotary Club to thank us for supporting the Shoebox appeal. They were so grateful that we could give our support this year - thank you to all those families that took part.

Parents Evening: Having taken feedback regarding last years parents evenings we have both online and face to face on offer this year. The face to face meetings will be in the small hall/ large hall and we will call out for each appointment time - to keep us to time. Small hall (entrance through the main office doors) for Years 4, 5 & 6, Large hall (entrance through the fire exit doors in the large hall) for Years 1, 2 and 3. Afterschool club will be based in another area on the evening of the 17th - and collection from Year 4Gs door - (second fire exit on the right as you come through on your way to the large hall - the phone will be on for you to contact if you can't find them!)

Well done to Kylla-Rose for completing her first dance exam. She was very anxious to go but when she came out she was super happy that she had done it. We are so proud of you Kylla-Rose!

Henry 3TL

Henry’s poussin category was strongly contested but with consistent running, concentration and effort Henry clinched victory for Team GB! Henry ran eight consecutive races with a mixture of myself, two other members of Team GB and a member of Team Ireland. He ran with Murphy - a Springer Spaniel, Edith - a European Sled Dog and Maze - a European Sled Dog. We raced in eight different locations all beautiful autumnal trails and forest tracks, some hilly, some technical. Henry made friends with children of different nationalities, practised his French and generally had a blast. Henry you are a GB Champion - we are so proud of you!

archie 2T

Archie played in his first match for Paddock Wood U7's this weekend. They played 3 games in the pouring rain. They won all three. Archie scored 4 goals and won Man of the Match. Well done Archie - what a soggy match - you should be so proud of your achievement.

Stanley 2T

We are super proud of Stanley, he took part in his first ever football tournament this weekend. And the team won all 3 matches!

He has only been playing football a few months and did so so well! As did the rest of the team.

Here’s a picture of him with his medal. Well done Stanley!

Harry 4G

Robyn 6C

Both Harry and Robyn received their PADI Seal Team qualification with the Scuba School at Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre - well done to you both, we are really proud of you and what an achievement!

Parking

We continue to receive complaints from local residents about inconsiderate parking. Please do not park on double yellow lines or block driveways - whilst you may only be a minute, it's not acceptable. It's also not acceptable that local residents are sometimes then shouted at or subjected to verbal assault.

We are all part of the same community - we all need to respect one another and work together.

Driving onto site is also not acceptable. Only blue badge holders and taxis are permitted on site at the beginning and end of the day. This is to keep traffic on the driveway to a minimum for the safety of our children. Our disabled parking space is used daily so please do not park there unless you have a blue badge.

Office Messages

Thank you for your patience while we merged Parent Pay and MCAS payments over the half term break. We hope this is helpful having the payments all in one place. Please let us know if we can help with any issues.

NSPCC Assembly

Next week, every class will be participating in the NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe. online programme. This consists of an online assembly and supporting classroom based activities. Speak out. Stay safe. is a safeguarding programme available to all primary schools in the UK and Channel Islands. It aims to help children understand abuse in all its forms and to recognise the signs of abuse in a child friendly way. Children are taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a trusted adult or Childline.

In the online assembly, the Speak out. Stay safe. messages are delivered in a fun and interactive way with the help of their mascot Buddy as well as special guest appearances from Ant and Dec.

We have studied the content of the materials and are extremely confident that they are appropriate for primary-school-aged children. By the end of the programme, we’re convinced children will feel empowered – knowing how they can speak out and stay safe.

If you would like to know more about the Speak out. Stay safe. programme you can find information on the NSPCC website www.nspcc.org.uk/speakout
