Mrs Fidock's news update

So Sports Days have started and the children are looking forward to representing their House Team - let's hope the weather stays sunny, but not too hot for these days! Please could we remind all parents/carers that the children will need their water bottle, a sun hat and sun-cream everyday - this means we can keep them outside as the temperature increases.

We welcomed our new EYFS families on Wednesday evening and we were able to share with them all the information they might need - it was so lovely to see such a packed school hall and lots of new faces. We will be having 2 transition mornings for the whole school later this term - at that time we will let you know the staffing for these classes.

Could we please remind all families that holidays will not be authorised in term time and you will be at risk of a Penalty Fine from the Local Authority. It's so important that children are in school as much as possible and we have recently seen a huge spike in requests. Thank you for your help with this.

Enjoy the weekend - it's supposed to be a warm one.

This week we are really proud of...

WILF 3BE

Wilf MacLean had a brilliant weekend competing for Ashford Valley Pony Club and he won South Garth Pony Club's tetrathlon for his age group with his amazing pony Sienna. He got 2nd in the riding, best run, best throw and a great PB in the swim.

Tetrathlons are swimming, running, bean bag throwing (next year he'll start air pistol shooting) and showjumping.  Well done Wilf, we are so proud of you!

finley 5J & elijah 3Be

Finley, Elijah and their family went to Italy during the half term break.

The boys wanted to commemorate and remember the actions of our local war hero Captain John Brunt.  He is buried in Faenza war cemetery.

Emily Archer Class

Emily has earned her Nature Interest badge, all the work was completed at home, including, talking and drawing about the different seasons and she had to grow a plant. Emily has planted and grown, sunflowers, and MANY vegetables, all of which are doing really well in the garden and she can't wait to eat them!

For her Stage 1 First Aid badge, she had to show how she would help a friend who had a small cut or graze and practice washing hands so she can kill germs.

She has enjoyed working on these badges and has already started on the next ones!

edan 1p

Edan has now completed Stage 1 in his swimming lessons.  He is now starting on Stage 2.  Well done Edan, we are so proud of you.

charlotte 2P

Charlotte will be doing the Moonlight Walk for Hospice in the Weald on her birthday, 17th June, in memory of her Mummy.

She is raising money for Hospice in the Weald via JustGiving, and is currently the top fundraiser for the whole event!  Please speak to the school office if you would like details of how you can donate via Charlotte's JustGiving page.  Well done Charlotte, we are so proud of you and can't wait to hear how much you have raised!

george 1p

George has completed Stage 2 in his swimming lessons.  He has already started Stage 3 and is doing really well. Well done George, we are so proud of you!

Coronation Artwork

Children in Years 3, 4 and 5 thoroughly enjoyed creating canvas art for the King's Coronation. The children had free rein to design their art work and they used a range of materials. They were provided with pictures associated with the King for inspiration. They all worked really hard and their beautiful artwork is now up in the small hall for all of us to enjoy!  Well done  to all the children who were involved.

Tonbridge Swimming Gala

Pupils from years 5 and 6 took part in a swimming gala at Tonbridge School just before half and returned to school with a huge haul of medals. There were individual golds for Josh and Amelie, a gold for the year 6 girls relay and a silver for Oliver in the backstroke.

Overall the pupils did incredibly and we finished in third place, netting everyone a bronze medal. You are all awesome!
