Mrs Fidock's news update

Reports come home today and we look forward to discussing them further during our Open Event on Wednesday 3pm - 5pm. If you are unable to make this time and you wish to discuss your child's report, please contact the class teacher through the school office.

We have nearly completed all the Sports Days for this year - just Year 1/2 on Monday to go! Thank you to all those parents who were able to come and support the children - it was lovely to hear you all cheering for other children in the same team. All of the children took part in something and were able to celebrate both their individual and team efforts - well done to everyone involved.

Only 2 weeks left until the Summer break and it's going to be a hot! So, next week we don't need anyone wearing ties, they can just wear their shorts/shirts/summer dresses, please also ensure they have suncream on before they arrive and come with a hat and water (we can refill bottles during the day if needed). We will start sending bits and pieces home with the children - although we will keep hold of their last English, Maths and Inquiry books until Christmas. There is a huge pile of lost property outside 2F, so please do have a look. We will put this out on tables to make it easier to sift through - and please ensure that new unfiorm is named, as we do our best to return items to their owners.

Have a lovely weekend.

LAT Cricket Tournament

Well done to our amazing players who represented the school at the Leigh Academy Trust cricket tournament last week. The team gave a sensational performance scoring a massive 270 runs across just four games which secured us second place out of fifteen primary schools! Alongside playing, the pupils had the chance to meet some professional cricket players including Alex Tudor, Jonathan Trott and Graham Gooch. Great job everyone!

Well done to our Year 6 athletes who represented the school at Tonbridge School on Wednesday. The team participated in numerous events including, 800m, high jump, shot putt and 100m hurdles competing against children from other schools both primary and secondary. As always our sporting representatives made us extremely proud with their efforts and attitude.

Curriculum corner

Each week we want to give you ideas to enable you to support your child at home with a particular aspect of the curriculum. Our subject leaders will be sharing hints and tips to help you along the way and will be offering further ideas and resources that you might like to access at home. This week our focus is.... PYP Transdisciplinary Themes.

These themes are:

Who we are

Where we are in place and time

How the world works

How we organise ourselves

How we express ourselves

PYP Transdisciplinary themes

There are 6 Transdisciplinary Themes that we teach across each year group from Year 1 - Year 6 (EYFS do 4 Themes). These are the broad themes that cover increasingly complex ideas as the children move through the school.

We then use our Curriculum Map (combining both the National Curriculum and the IBs Scope and Sequence) to build the learning for the children, based on their knowledge and interests.

The International Baccalaureate Program (IB) has provided the opportunity for pupils at Paddock Wood to challenge themselves within their learning and has given them the basis for intellectual curiosity and academic rigor.

Next week we have our verification visit from the IB to become an IB World School to demonstrate the journey we have taken as a school. We also have an Open Event on Wednesday (3pm - 5pm) where you are welcome to come and speak to your class teacher about the report, but to also come and see what your child has been learning. We do hope you are able to attend.
