Mr page's news update

Happy New Year to you all and to our families celebrating Chinese New Year soon 新年快乐

Despite the cold, wet weather, we have started the term full of energy. We are having a refresh of all our displays and it's been lovely to see so much new learning going up around the building. It has been brilliant to welcome the children back into school and to see them engaged and ready to learn.

Cars on site: Just a reminder that only Taxi's/Blue Badge holders and parents of children with temporary medical issues e.g. broken leg, may drive onto site. We will continue to man the gate in the mornings to ensure consistency to this rule. This allows our children to walk onto site safely, so thank you for your help with this.

Phones: As children start to walk home on their own, they are allowed to bring a phone with them to school. This is stored in a box in class - if the child hands this in. Can I please remind you to ensure these phones are labelled in some way, have a screen protector on and a robust case.  Whilst we are happy to store them, we take no responsibility for them whilst on school site and they could be damaged if a child throws their phone into the box. Thank you for your help with this.

Can I take this opportunity to welcome Mr Hale, our new Year 2 class teacher who has made a fantastic start to the term.  We hope you have all managed to say hello to him at the door.  2L will now be known as 2H.  And lastly, we would like to say a huge well done to Miss Willis, our new Head of EYFS, who has made a super start to her role.  Thanks to all the staff and parents who have made them both feel very welcome.

uniform

A gentle reminder that all children should be wearing a school tie which correlates to the colour of their house. Unless children are wearing PE kit, they should be wearing this daily.

These can be purchased from Simmonds or Brigade.

As always, if you are having difficulties with this, please speak to your child's class teacher or a member of SLT.

Curriculum corner

Each week we want to give you ideas to enable you to support your child at home with a particular aspect of the curriculum. Our subject leaders will be sharing hints and tips to help you along the way and will be offering further ideas and resources that you might like to access at home. This week our focus is....

Reading!

At PWPA, we encourage all children to read daily. This can be a book, comic, encyclopaedia, blog, a website.. if they are reading it counts! It is so important for children to explore a range of texts, genres and types of writing to broaden their knowledge and expand their vocabularies. There are lots of positives to reading daily including reducing stress levels and anxiety as well as finding new worlds and going on adventures! We have shared some ways you can help here:

Do you have a query or concern?

Should you have any concerns about your child please direct these to the class teacher in the first instance.  Teachers can be addressed at drop off /pick up or via email enquiries@paddockwoodprimaryacademy.org.uk

Please be mindful that teachers need to complete their teaching responsibilities during the school working day and often also have after school commitments therefore please leave a reasonable amount of time for a response.

Equally the inclusion/pastoral team have heavy commitments supporting the children or meetings with professionals during the school day so are often not available to respond to emails or calls straight away.

Please email inclusionsupport@paddockwoodprimaryacademy.org.uk if you have concerns that need to be seen by Sarah Thorne (SENCo).

Should you have a safeguarding concern you will need to speak to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads, who will endeavour to get back to you as soon as humanly possible. If you would like to email us please use safeguarding@paddockwoodprimaryacademy.org.uk.
