Dear Parents and Carers,
Throughout the last week, children across all year groups and classes have begun writing their own version of an amazing scene from the Polar Express as part of our winter writing competition. It has been inspiring to see so many amazing pieces of creative writing. Children have stopped me in the corridors to read through their work, arrived at my office with excitement to read their stories to me or begged me to come to their classes to show me what they have produced. Such pride, effort and bravery to try new language and writing techniques has really impressed me! I will be announcing the winners of the competition on Friday 6th December with the winners receiving a £20 Amazon gift voucher with plenty more creative writing competitions to come across the year to celebrate fantastic progress, creativity and enthuse our budding young authors.
As if right on cue, this week has certainly taken a wintery turn. Please ensure children are coming into school with warm coats, hats and gloves as we want them to all still get the chance to enjoy breaks and lunches.
Please also be very careful on our playgrounds. We salt and grit all surfaces of an evening but we may be faced with even colder spells and potentially snow before Christmas. If there is heavy snowfall then we will update our academy website and send MCAS notifications as soon as possible to confirm whether we will be open or closed.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Yours sincerely,
Mr Moore
This week we are really proud of...
Oliver used his persuasive writing skills to write a letter to his favourite football player and was thrilled to receive a reply; a signed poster from Jarrod Bowen. Well done Oliver!
The Rotary Club were very grateful to the school for collecting so much for the Shoe Box Appeal. They returned earlier this week to show members of the School Council the boxes full of gifts that will now be taken to families in Eastern Europe who would otherwise have very little this Christmas. Thank you - the legendary Paddock Wood generosity lives on!
“This is a reminder to parents to submit a consent or decline for the Flu Immunisation Programme via the Immunisation Service’s website https://family.kentcht.nhs.uk/imms and click on “Child vaccination form” button to complete. The vaccinations will be taking place in school on 11/12/2024.”
We have had a report of a child riding a scooter in the car park. For the children's safety please ensure that if your child rides a bike or a scooter to school they dismount and push it on the footpath whilst on site and store it safely in the bike shed.
