Dear Parents and Carers,
With news of house captain elections there has been a buzz around Paddock Wood. I am so proud to see the pupils of Paddock Wood wanting to make a positive change, thinking about others and standing in front of their peers speaking so eloquently and confidently. All of the pupils should be proud of their efforts and also the support they have shown their fellow house members; the sense of togetherness and camaraderie is a clear sign of what is to come in the house competitions throughout this year. We cannot wait to learn who our new House Captains are in today's celebration assembly, Mr Chorley has been working tirelessly throughout the night to count up all of the votes.
I have enjoyed the opportunity to see more fantastic learning this week with so many children keen to show me their work and conference with me about their learning. Conferencing provides children and staff the chance to have learning conversations to help everyone improve, feel more confident and motivated. Your children will be keen to conference with you about their Central Ideas, inquiry learning and subject specific learning too.
Please stay tuned across the coming week for our first parents evening dates and opportunities to join your children in class during our class engagement sessions. The children will love the opportunity to learn alongside you and I am sure it will be a great opportunity to keep up to date with their class work too, we hope to welcome as many of you as possible.
Please see below for details of our first PTA event of the academic year, the team have worked hard to organise a fantastic autumn disco. I personally can't wait for all of the brilliant events that have been organised particularly with Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night right around the corner!
I hope you all have a restful weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Moore

Every year, thousands of schools, companies and communities come together to make World Mental Health Day that little bit brighter by wearing something yellow and donating to YoungMinds.
Right now, the world is a really tough place for children and young people to grow up in. We want young people to know that they don’t have to go through this alone. Things can get better.
This World Mental Health Day, wear an item of yellow with thousands of others across the UK and raise money to show young people that they’re not alone with their mental health.
Because we stand brighter, together.
Where - Leigh Academy Paddock Wood
When - Monday 7th October
What - Normal school uniform must be worn with an item of yellow added. Ideas for extra items can be a hair band, scrunchie, socks, bracelets etc. Small items to add a splash of colour!
