Dear Parents and Carers,
I write to you at the end of a fantastic week. Parents' Evenings were very highly attended and I hope provided a great opportunity to find out more about your child's learning and progress at school. I have spoken with many parents about their experiences in an attempt to streamline the event and make it work for as many of our families as possible, there are key points to take onboard ahead of the next Parents' Evening including timings and viability of virtual slots, thank you for your feedback.
There has been a great deal of brilliant learning this week with the launch of our Christmas Writing competition all about the Polar Express. To see so many children writing creatively and putting their learning into action whilst growing ever more excited for Christmas has been brilliant to see. Once all children have had a chance to finish their stories (and hopefully share some with yourselves at home), I will be judging the competition to pick a winner in each year group who will receive a £20 Amazon voucher and have their writing up on display for all to see.
It was brilliant to see so many of our community at both the PTA Fireworks and the Remembrance service on Sunday.
The Fireworks Display raised £6,868! I must say a huge thank you to the PTA who worked tirelessly to make the event the huge success that it was. I know the hours of preparation that went into planning the event and I can't thank them enough for their dedication to making the children's school lives the best they can possibly be, the money raised will go a very long way! The support of the community in attending, helping out and donating also does not go unnoticed, thank you.
The Remembrance Service on Sunday was my first and very touching. I was so proud to see so many Paddock Wood children representing both the school and their external clubs in paying their respects too. A huge well done to all involved.
Yours sincerely and have a good weekend,
Mr Moore
This week we are really proud of...
In half term, Wilf went to Duckhurst to compete on behalf of Leigh Academy Paddock Wood and got a brilliant 5th!! It was a class where there was an optimum time which on this occasion was quite slow, so whizzy Wilf was about 10 seconds too fast!
If anyone has a pony and would like to compete for the school in showjumping, arena eventing or dressage please contact the school office.
During half term Henry competed with Team GB at the Tropheè sud Bourgogne in France. Consisting of a full week of sled dog racing in different locations his discipline was canicross. He ran hard and consistently, even when faced with different trail conditions with his new and powerful partner, Edith. Henry and Edith secured second place overall in his category. We are so proud of his attitude to the event.
During half term, Elijah did a grading in Tae Kwondo and was given his next belt, yellow with a green stripe. Well done Elijah; we are so proud of you and can't wait to see what colour your next belt is.
Our House Captains spent some time on Monday this week at the war memorial doing a reading and speaking to the community about their war stories. We loved hearing Leigh's story about being fired at by the German planes after he had waved at them from his tree in the garden!
