Dear Parents and Carers,
I wanted to write to you all with exciting news that we have had the green light to begin our Forest School accreditation this academic year. While the training and preparation will take some time and hard work, it is exciting to know that we will soon be able to run a full Forest School provision, from which all children in our care will benefit. Those of you who are familiar with such an approach will be aware of the robust research and anecdotal evidence that continues to prove the benefits of this approach on personal, social, and educational development.
Our vision is to accompany Forest School with our own soil-to-plate scheme so that all children have the opportunity to grow, harvest, prepare, and cook throughout the year with their class. This will include activities such as budgeting, advertising, and photography. Such holistic learning equips children with vital life skills, and I am extremely excited to launch the provision in time for the next academic year. In the meantime, there will be a great deal of work happening behind the scenes, such as staff training, preparing the Forest School area near the pond, developing our own allotment space, and mapping learning opportunities into our curriculum. We will be working tirelessly and can't wait to share progress with you!
I am always keen to gather parental feedback and act upon it. We will be gathering your thoughts and views via our annual parental survey, which goes live today. I really value your feedback and encourage you to complete the survey before the closing date.
Off the back of the survey, I will plan a number of parental focus groups, welcoming those interested to come and discuss key areas for improvement here at Paddock Wood with me. There are so many exciting plans on the horizon, and I am keen to work with you all to make our school the very best.
Yours sincerely, and have a restful weekend,
Mr. Moore
