Dear Parents and Carers,
I write to you all again at the end of yet another hectic week as we rapidly head towards half term.
So much has happened at Paddock Wood across the last week to be proud of and celebrate. Last Friday we had the pleasure of walking to St Andrew's Church for our Harvest Celebrations. It was a fantastic celebration and opportunity to reflect on how lucky we are and how we can help others who are in need, not just at this time of the year but at all times. Your donations were very kind and greatly appreciated by the community storehouse who shared their immense thanks. Donations totalled to 173kg worth of supplies which will go a long way to help those most in need this autumn and winter, thank you.
As you all know, there is so much amazing learning taking place at the moment and I am so pleased to see so many parents attending and enjoying the parental class sessions. I will be looking to gather feedback about these sessions from yourselves as we are keen to shape them into an invaluable opportunity to stay up to date with all of the learning happening in your child's class. These will happen each term and should be a great point in the calendar to look forward to.
The PTA disco was an amazing event on Thursday with so many children enjoying the chance to let their hair down. It is a joy to see the children outside of the classroom as I endeavour to get to know them all individually. I would like to extend a huge thank you to the PTA for their fantastic organisation.
Please be reminded that our school photos are on Monday 14th October. If your child has the newly branded Leigh Academy Paddock Wood uniform then please ensure they wear it to school looking their smartest.
Last but not least, please read below for the details of our first 'own clothes day' of the academic year which is being held next Friday 18th October (the last day of this term). This is as a fundraiser for the PTA fireworks night, your donations would be greatly appreciated as always!
Yours sincerely and have a restful weekend,
Mr Moore
This week we are really proud of...
Everly James, raised over £1500 last weekend for a dog rescue centre. On Saturday 5th October she walked 10.9 km on a dog walk in order to raise funds for Arundawn Dog Rescue. As part of World Mental Health Day on the 10th October Leigh Academy Paddock Wood and Phoenix Dance joined in with Young Minds #HelloYellow. The main aim of this is to raise awareness of young peoples mental health and to show them they are not alone in any struggles they may have. What they feel matters. We spoke about what is mental health, how they support their mental health and what makes them happy and feel positive. Mental health in our young people has never been so important.
Thanks to your support we managed to raise £234. Donations are still being accepted via MCAs until half term so please, give what you can.
Let’s check in with our children and let them know it’s ok, validate their feelings, thank them for sharing, let them know that you love them, ask them what you can do to help them and spend time together thinking about what’s making them feel this way.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE. WHAT YOU FEEL MATTERS. SAY YES TO YELLOW!
