Dear Parents and Carers,
This term is certainly flying by with so much amazing learning taking place. Early Years and Key Stage 1 enjoyed a visit from an author and really immersed themselves in creating their own characters and becoming little authors, they had a great time!
Year 6 are ready to take on their SATs next week having worked so diligently to prepare, they have done themselves and us so very proud and we can't wait to see what they achieve.
In our final two weeks of this term, we see our Year 3 visit Paddock Wood Station and our Year 6s enjoy the opportunity to let their hair down and enjoy several well-earned trips.
Should you experience any poor parking or reckless driving around the school entrances and surrounding roads, please ensure you inform the school office. I am working closely with Sarah Hamilton and the local council to search for viable solutions so that our community can stay safe and our children can get to school safely. I really appreciate your support and together we will find solutions to such issues.
Yours sincerely and have a lovely weekend,
Mr Moore
This week our overall academy attendance has been 97.4%.
Our winning year groups are Year 2 and Year 5 this week with 97.8% so congratulations to all pupils for being in school as much as you can!
All Year 2 and 5 children have received some additional playtime today to celebrate this...and of course will be the holders of the Attendance Weekly Cup for half a week!
Last Friday the Year 6's had a visit from Lucy who works for NHS Talking Therapies as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. Lucy visited each class and great discussions were had around emotions and empowering the children in reminding them they are in control of them.
So many of the children were brave in speaking up about their own experiences, around anxiety in particular, and magic moments were made in connecting thoughts, feelings and behaviour. We have the power to change how we feel. These discussions are so very important in cementing good mental health for our children.
At LAPW we will continue to remind our children that they are not alone in their mental health. Your feelings matter. A huge thank you to Lucy for all your support. We appreciate you!
Year 1 organised a Bake Sale last term as the action linked to our Central Idea. We raised £247.05 for the Guide Dogs. We were delighted to receive this message from the Guide Dogs:
“Thank you so much for your fabulous fundraising and kind donation – support such as yours will help to provide life-changing services to people with sight loss, now and in the future.”
Thank you to everyone who donated to and supported our Bake Sale.
On Tuesday the children in EYFS and Key Stage One were excited to meet Sue Hendra, the author of the much loved Supertato books.
Sue spent the afternoon with the children, reading stories and inspiring them to get creative and make their own vegetable superhero. The children had lots of fun thinking of adventures for their superhero to go on.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop with Sue and her team.
This week we are really proud of...
Hendri has been very busy with sports outside of school. He achieved the end of season rugby prize for ‘spirit of rugby' and also recently took part in a rugby tour against some tough opposition. He is a great team player in training and matches. He also enjoys playing cricket for Tonbridge Cricket Club and hit two back to back boundaries in the recent match against TW Borderers! Well done Hendri; we are so proud of all your sporting participation and acheivements!
Last month William completed his 100th Parkrun. Well done William; we are so proud of you. Keep enjoying your running!
Layla recently took part in her first dance competition. Well done Layla; we are so proud of you! Keep enjoying your dancing!
Millie and Felicity performed at the Stag Theatre last weekend in 'Madagascar the Musical'. After 11 weeks of rehearsals, the girls had an absolute blast dancing and singing in three sold-out shows across the weekend. Well done both of you; we are so proud of you!
We are incredibly proud of Vinnie who cut his hair last week in order to donate it to The Little Princess Trust. The charity makes real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments. Not only that but Vinnie has raised a whopping £260 for the charity in the process, smashing his £50 target. You're awesome Vinnie!

The PTA would like to say a huge thank you to all of our brilliant Easter trail detectives. Thanks to your egg-cellent detective skills we have solved the mystery and can now confirm that the culprit was... Miss Sills!
When questioned about the theft, Miss Sills said she was very sorry to have caused any alarm as she had only taken the bonnet back to her classroom to keep it safe! Miss Sills has now returned the bonnet to Madame Ait-Mansour and so the PTA have decided we can let her off with a caution this time!
All of the correct entries were entered into our Easter prize draw and the winner was Henry in Phoenix class!
