Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you all enjoyed the half term and managed to find time for some family time, particularly with Halloween falling in the break.
It has been fantastic to welcome you all back to Leigh Academy Paddock Wood this week. The children have hit the ground running, clearly revitalised from the break and have enthusiastically thrown themselves into their new learning this term. They are all so keen to share their work with me and I can't be more proud of their application and desire to learn.
This term quite literally starts with a bang with our brilliant PTA Family Fireworks event this Saturday 9th November. The gates open at 4pm with the display commencing at 5:30pm. I know how much hard work (and support) has gone into making this event the best it can possibly be for our amazing community. I hope everyone enjoys the event!
On top of this, I wanted to highlight that the Paddock Wood Remembrance Parade is scheduled for this Sunday 10th November. All families are welcome to this community event and I am sure that I will see many of our families in attendance.
Please note the council have warned that the following roads will be CLOSED on the 10th November from 10.15am – 11.45am.
Commercial Road
Clavadal Road
Station Road
Maidstone Road (from Station Road junction to St Andrews Church)
Church Road (from Commercial Road to the Entrance of Waitrose)
Old Kent Road
Please be mindful of this whilst travelling through Paddock Wood on Sunday morning.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Moore
This week we are really proud of...
During the last week of last term, Year 1 baked healthy autumn flapjacks as part of our inquiry.
We then delivered some of these apple and cinnamon flapjacks to the charity coffee morning at St Andrew's Church. We have been told they went down a treat and we feel very happy to have used our learning to support our local community.
Jacob and Stanley have been at it again; after rescuing a little bird last year on school grounds, they rescued this lovely kestrel from the side of the road during half term and took him to Folly wildlife for him to be looked after and released soon! Well done to both of you!
Genevieve took part in Circesque where performers from lots of different Aerial Arts studios took part. She was one of the youngest and her group's performance was amazing as was she! Well done Genevieve we are so proud of you!
Phoebe took part in her 1st Judo competition and won all 3 of her matches and was awarded a gold medal! She was also awarded the judoka award for best performed and for being a good sport and supporting others. Well done Phoebe, we are very proud of you!
Marley enjoyed a day at Chelsea Football Club over the half-term. He has now joined the Chelsea Kids Disability Football Team and will be training with them every week. We are so proud of you Marley and we are excited to hear all about your football journey at Chelsea!
Henry successfully completed his first piano challenge over the half term break, The Diva Challenge. He showed both determination and dedication which was especially evident when faced with a particularly difficult song. He rose to the challenge and pushed himself, practising it over and over again resulting in the successful completion of this piano challenge, in just one day. Well done Henry, what a great achievement!
